that could be a career altering injury

i don't think so. i'd be pretty surprised if it's not a break in the lower leg. as gruesome as it looked, as far as injuries go, those are pretty straightforward. it looked a lot like kakkos injury where everyone thought his season was done. never good obviously, but i'm hoping, and pretty confident, it's not nearly as bad as it looked on the ice. there is a small chance it's compound, and in that case it could have some lasting effects. those usually happen on plays with a lot more force than that though and from impact, not twisting over yourself.
