To me this game underscores that in today's parity-driven, watered -down 32 if you have a top 5 goaltender and a game-driving forward you can be competitive .. and if several other players show up ( Zadorov, Geekie, Peake) you can win that day

Not a formula for a Cup but it also means you are not at a tear-down/ rebuild stage.

Add in a top 6 speedy scoring winger, Lindholm l, and Mac. This team is a playoff team.

Won’t happen…..but a deal centered around McAvoy and Coyle for Lafreniere and Kreider would be, at the very least, intriguing.

Each team gets a young guy and an older guy….McAvoy is probably the best player in the deal….Lafreniere has big upside and is only 23.

But if you ranked them all based on today, it would probably be:

McAvoy 1
Kreider 2
Lafreniere 3
Coyle 4

Not sure if I’d pull the trigger, but I’d definitely listen if I was either GM.

Pasta and Swayman make a big difference when at the top of their game.

Marchand-Poitras-Coyle didn't generate a shot on goal.

But Marchand was as good defensively as he was bad with the puck.

I've heard you can't win with Geekie on your first line.

Lindholm won 14 or 17 faceoffs.

Peeke with the most ice time today, had to take extra shifts when Carlo was out with a puck-face.

Brazeau gets only 8:01 of ice time. Coyle had 21:00.

Bad deal. We need a very good D back and I want nothing to do with Kreider.
