GDT: GAME 50 | Utah HC @ Sens | No Rest for the Wicked Edition | Sun Jan 26 2025, 5PM | TSN5, RDS2

Think about how far this team has come, when we see games like today as terrible games. This team has come a long way this season. Still a ways to go, but I'm proud of their strong efforts currently.

So true. They lose 5-4 it's oh no, no D. They win 2-1 and it's oh no, no O.

Feel a bit bad for Levi. The goal against was one of the flukest ones I have seen in a long while.

Watched the game at a buddies, but it felt very much like we limited chances but were really struggling to start the rush due to their forcheck, I wasn't too optimistic when they tied it up.

Not a lot of chances for either side, until the third where we seemed to find our offensive stride. I like that they stuck to the game plan and didn't sacrifice defense for offence.

That was a poor 40 minute performance. Thank god for Levi. Happy for the win. Happy for Brady to get one after an abysmal stretch of hockey. Hell even Hamonic had a good last two games, nice to see.

But let’s not act like this effort gets you a win 7/10 games. Our backups and D have been beasts but overall play has been poor and lots of passengers on this win. That’s not being a hater. Let’s keep playing like that 3rd period and there will be faith from the “haters”. Nice close to an ugly game, win is a win time for a beer.
So I guess the team should win every game 5-0 ?????
In the last 10 games the Sens are 7-3 and have allowed only 18 goals. They have played very good team defense and kept opposing scoring chances down. They are doing what they have to do to win. Sorry you don't want to award them style points.

Wow the bitching and moaning in the first half of this thread is amazing to read. Some of you guys act like the Sens are in last place and on a 7 game losing streak down 5-0 in this game.
If you are not happy with where the team is considering how long Ullmark has been out plus the other injuries then I just think you just like complaining for the hell of it.
Chalk it up to passionate fans. We want PLAYOFFS!

Good news is this is pretty much it for the gauntlet of hell that's been our schedule with three days before the next game and then just one more back to back until the two week 4 Nations break starting February 8th. Lots of games in March but you'd expect that by that point, the bumps and bruises will have healed up a bit.

Yeah the rest is very important. This team has yet to peak, once healthy, I can see this team peaking and solidifying its post season spot in March. If we can get healthy and clicking at the right time, this team can surprise a team or two in the playoffs.

Need more of this, less of what we saw in Boston. The silver lining in all this is the defensive machine these guys are becoming as units. The Sanderson-Zub duo is a monster.

Please stay healthy for once team!

Go Sens Go!!

I give people a pass for GDTs. It's the right place for people to be overly emotional and ride the waves of the game.

Two things can be true: Sens have mostly played well, they’re winning and they play sound defensive hockey, but the lack of offense IS concerning. If you’re not concerned that’s great, but we are one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL.

Team playing b2b on a short turn around. 13th game in 24 nights. Playing against a rested team. Not surprised they looked a little tired.

We aren’t the only teams to play back to back. Having the legs go in the 3rd period can happen, but we were the opposite where the start of the game was disjointed and we woke up after the 2nd goal. It’s the inability to make plays, puck bobbling, etc. that has stood out lately and not just tonight. The motor is not the problem it’s the steering.

Someone posted a main board thread about games played vs rested teams vs playing tired, etc and statistically we were middle of the pack. And some games we have been throttled by teams on a back to back.

It’s almost like some people on this board (not directed at you) don’t watch other teams play and think we can go on a hamburgler type goaltending stretch where the underlying numbers are bad and expect results. It’s fun to win, but have to look at the body of work and can’t ignore what will get exploited as games keep getting harder down the stretch.

See post above this reply, you and swift can applaud bad hockey where our backup goalies (who nobody would have expected their play since ullmark injury) are stealing games. Not sustainable, believe it or not expecting .970 out of Levi and Forsberg isn’t a good strategy to stay in the playoff hunt.

Congrats on winning most annoying post of the week.

Sure I'd like them to score more but the bottom line they are winning more than losing.
If we go back to when Ullmark went down and knew he was going to be out 5 weeks most fans would be thrilled that they would be still sitting in a playoff spot.

It's not bad hockey. We outchanced them, while also playing sound defensive hockey, despite key injuries, and on a b2b, while playing 10 games in 16 days.

We did what we needed to win under these circumstances. That's what good teams do.

I will take my own eyes over the deseve to win o meter thank you very much. The first 40 minutes were pretty bad, and Utah is far from a good team. I’ll stop repeating myself and enjoy that we overcame some adversity and closed the game well, but would rather see more 60 minute efforts out of our forward group and PP.

Yeah I don’t disagree, but when you start winning expectations rise. We wonder what a Panthers fan might have to complain about, but I’m sure they do plenty of that anyway.

The extremes of this board are funny. When we’re losing if you say positive things people are ready to pounce. When we’re winning if you say negative things people are ready to pounce. In reality there are always good things and bad things to talk about, so you kind of just have to let people ride the waves of their emotions.

To be fair, it seems like most of the complaints are about the first 2 periods, had you posted that after two periods, it would have shown a different story

We found our legs in the third, lets hope they build off that, because the first two periods weren't going to cut it.
