Another game to survive with a depleted lineup. Gee, do you think there is any correlation between the nutso schedule and injuries?

Good news is this is pretty much it for the gauntlet of hell that's been our schedule with three days before the next game and then just one more back to back until the two week 4 Nations break starting February 8th. Lots of games in March but you'd expect that by that point, the bumps and bruises will have healed up a bit.

Should be a good game this afternoon, Utah has three players who could be interesting acquisitions. Schmaltz RW who would be an interesting Giroux RW replacement, Bjugstad C/RW would be an interesting acquisition for a playoff run & Crouse LW who would add another element of toughness to this roster.

Schmaltz will be perfect for Timmy line, but dont think Utah trying to trade him,
But Bjugstad for why ?

Not sure about what Utah are doing from an overall team strategy point of view. They are battling for a wild card spot as well, so not sure they are interested in jettisoning players. Of course, not sure I’m what timeline you are referring to and whether its this season or the off-season you are referring to.

Obviously as we approach the trade deadline it will be interesting to see who becomes sellers & who becomes buyers to make a push. If Utah are still in it than obviously they won't be selling players, but if they are not Bjugstad would likely be on the block. Not sure if Schmaltz RW or Crouse LW would ever be available, but I like both players & they could both help Ott in different ways.

Boeser RW UFA would be my #1 target & Schmaltz RW 2nd if we can't get Boeser, but we would have to trade for him. I also like the idea of acquiring Olivier RW who is a UFA out of Columbus to take some heat off Brady.

I thought I saw a story just this weekend from one of the pundits claiming Utah is expected to be aggressive at the deadline. Didn't sound like they were packing it in and selling.

I imagine the new owners have every incentive to try to do what Vegas did. Or at least if not winning a cup being highly competitive in their first seasons to really entrench them.

I seem to recall a lot more tut tutting over the women's league not having team names for their first year. But it sounds like my preferred choice of the yeti has been rejected i guess by the people that make my yeti thermos.

Hopefully not a let down after beating the leafs and they can stick to the solid defensive system they are establishing.
