1- You cut the other player so the players has to shoot
2- You fight the puck guy and try to cut the play.

or 3- You do like Savard and do none of the 2

Goalies will tell you to leave the shooter to them. Don't let a pass across and don't give the shooter room in cut in.
Savard isn't very good, but he didn't let the pass across, even though one wasn't attempted.

His play was fine there.

Savard has a knack for playing the beached whale on a 1v2; he just dives and lies in between the two players. It has its ups and its downs.
