Im on the Geekie train. He is an RFA at the end of the season which means probably some cost control. For what he brings no doubt you keep him. At the deadline I would look at Frederic Brazeau, Peeke as trade candidates. It’s just tough because they are more than one buy from a contender but being on the cusp of a playoff spot you can’t take too much away from the team. Why they don’t have Lysell up right now to see what he has is a mistake. If he plays his way into a role it would give you more options at the deadline.

This is where Sweeney falters. While he is good at giving picks away at the deadline for players, he hardly ever gives any roster players during this time. He has to look to the future and I really don’t see it at the moment. He is frozen into get into playoffs at all costs so call up the players that are least likely to make a mistake rather than taking a gamble that they could still win while incorporating younger players

I'm not against giving Korpisalo a few games here. He has a winning record at 9-4-2, and his goals against and save percentage are better than Swaymans.

Korpi saved their asses last night. Bruins played a good game by their current standards, but still gave up far too many high danger chances and the Korpse was equal to the job. He's a good goalie and should get some starts.

Good question.

Beecher and Jones played 5 minutes each. Brown played 9 minutes.

Brazeau can't dress over these guys? He's 6th on the team in goals with limited ice time.
There is a nasty flu/cold going around. Trent F. was back but looked a bit pale at the start of the game.

Hard to play if you cannot breathe.

They wouldn't have benched Brazeau....right?

TBH it rarely happens at all -- but if we gave up on our teams every time things seemed bleak, life would be pretty ominous.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Each of us is going to watch our favorite teams play anywhere from 70 to 100% more regular season games than playoffs in a given year.

Yes, the end goal is always a championship, but each year only 1 team or around 3% of teams in a given league will win it all.

I watch for the excitement, the distraction from real life, the camaraderie that watching sports fosters, the opportunity to see something unique to the sport and because it often brings back memories. Sports are just fun!

If keeping an open mind, looking on the bright side whenever possible and believing something good can happen when it seems unlikely is wrong....then I'll happily be wrong until my dying breath.

I'm not dumb enough to try to convince people that this team is winning a cup. But I'm also not naive enough to think that in January 2019 -- the St. Louis Blues board wasn't filled with "Blow It Up", "Trade Pietrangelo or Parayko" posts on a daily basis.

Yes, it's unlikely that any team outside the playoff structure in mid-January wins another cup anytime soon -- but it did happen, which means it can happen, which means I'll still be rooting for it!
Great post!

I wouldn't think so, but I haven't heard anyone say he's actually sick or injured.

He was dropped to the 4th line the last two games and I didn't get that either.

It was nice to see Korpi get first star last night....he deserved it.

For all of the players confidence is huge. They play much better when they are having fun. They have fun when they feel good about their game.

The bruins are not a lazy team this year

But they lack a lot of firepower, and we’re supposed to make up for it with a top 10 defense and top 5 goaltending. We have received neither hence where we are in the standings. But one win at a time
The odd things is that when they lose they look to be tired and not skating well. Yet they've had pretty good success in the 2nd game of back to backs

Pride goes a long way .....last night was definitely a pride driven performance...have to check on the others if they lost the first of the back to back

In regard to the blown call on the "goal" - I have seen this happen to the Bruins, so was more than happy to take this break, we were due for one.

I still don't know what Zadorov did to deserve the misconduct, what I did see was Tkachuk punching Zadorov in the face with the ref in between. It doesn't matter since only 5 seconds remained, I am just curious.

I didn't see what Zado did either, but it felt like it was the ref just nipping something in the bud so the game didn't end in violence :dunno:
