Who do we have to replace him though? It’s a huge hole.

Going in we knew that there were a few key players that we couldn’t lose. He was one of them. We’re not the same team without him. I think he was primed for a breakout year. Wouldn’t have surprised me if he’s surpassed Suzuki.

Now we’ve got… Newhook, Evans? I mean wtf is the coach supposed to do there?
Dvorak will be a welcome addition as far as defensive play and possession goes

I think player utilization is a big thing. If Caufield scores it's because he is good enough to create his own chances, we aren't doing anything to set him up or get him free

With Anderson and Slaf we should be running a dump and chase line and forechecking hard to get possession in deep

Pearson was definitely a shrewd pickup. I'd almost say put him on the top line to maximize deadline value.

Agreed. If he and Monahan keep playing well and stay healthy, that's a nice potential haul at the deadline. Maybe Dvorak too seeing as Dach is gone for the year and that'll give him an opportunity as 2C

I don't know how you can hate on Gallagher. Yes, he's over paid and, yes, he's probably the slowest player in the league but we need vets. He's great on the bottom 6 and playing a beating bag on the ice. I love him, but he's done. I'm just enjoying it before he's done done.

And all you do is ride the same non argument because you have none as always. Tell me what improved since last season. Oh wait blabla I don't like ur argument so it's wrong , bla bla im right.

There is no positive putting Slaf under Anderson on the first unit. What's so complicated in that to understand.

You rather put Matheson on the PP over a guy like Barron who's a specialist offensively and showed it last season. Why wait to give them an opportunity?

But blabla
We won’t improve this year. This year is going to suck. Dach’s injury ensured it. It is another rebuilding year.

As to what improves, our prospects will develop for another year. Roy will have a solid year in the AHL, RB and Hutson will hopefully progress and we’ll likely get another high pick.

It’s part of rebuilding. We got unlucky on injuries but it’s not entirely unexpected. That’s what rebuilding looks like. It’s what you screamed for for years.

But that won’t stop you from screaming some more now.

I get what you're saying but why should we expect anything to change from last season. What changed? If Newhook, Caufield, and the rest of the young guys can develop that'd be fantastic. But you also have to admit that no matter the context, a coach must balance winning with development. Even if the gm wants to tank, if a coach is noticeably sacrificing wins for pure development, he's a dumb f*** because we've seen that creating a crappy culture has long term negative effects. I'm not necessarily dismissing your Barron claim but responding to the general premise.

Another important thing to consider is it's only game 5. Would I like the see changes, of course. But it's irresponsible for a coaching staff to not at least allow things to marinate before making noticable changes. I just think it's too early for MSL to make these wholesale changes. It's not good for continuity or morale

We’ll see - IMO this will be MSLs first big test, can he get & keep the team believing in itself?

Assuming of course, injuries don’t keep piling up.

Also, everyone keeps shi*tting on Houle, but if a couple of those prospects keep the positive development trend and add another measure of positivity for the big team, could have additional positive impact.

In which universe tho?

They will be 4th and 5th highest paid goalie, with a smaller gap behind 3rd than 6th.
Sorokin for 8.2 mil for being the best goalie in the world with a cap set to increase when his current contract expires. Dude could gotten over 10 mil on the open market

You gotta admit our drafting is SUS and we will be spinning in the basement till that changes.
