Smith under the microscope again even though he was one of our best forwards again for the second game in a row🤣

Let’s direct some of this attention over to Granlund for his piss poor performance in the last 10 minutes of the game. If anyone shouldn’t be out there in clutch situations right now, it’s him
he holds onto the puck too long and it's annoying, especially when he just turns over the puck in the end.

Man, it's disappointing that none of the *other* young players have taken a big step. I thought this could be a big year for Gushchin, Bordeleau, Graf, Dellandrea, Mukhamadullin, Thompson, Thrun, Kovalenko, etc. but no one has come close to wowing.

Agreed for most of these guys but I think kovalenko is pretty good, seems like a solid 3rd liner

You're really giving him a lot of flack for being the last one back on the empty net goal.

I guess I'm happy for you since you have a reason to pay attention every game.
By that time it was too late but yes in that situation there is zero hope. But he is also not hard enough of a player for crunch time. He is still not playable late in games, regardless of how many points he scores earlier. The game changes. Coach understood that earlier but I guess needed a reminder.

As bad as he has been, he is way better than Smith in crunch time. Whistles get put away, the game gets tight and physical, the neutral zone gets clogged. Granlund may have had no luck either, but we know he is capable of doing it. Smith has never proven he is anywhere near capable of it.

Boy, Walman does not seem right. Wonder if he's still playing through something. No confidence at all right now.
It's possible he was just playing over his head to start the season and has returned to normal.

it's smoke and mirrors with will right now, he can make plays when he gets space but in crunch time and when you are trailing at the end of a game there will be no space. you gotta load up on your most dynamic guys, not just the guys who happened to score earlier. rookie coaching.
We don't even have five dynamic guys right now.

Don't forget to include Smith and Zetterlund as well. Zetterlund should be improving on last season and pushing for 40-goal but he has taken a step back. Smith shouldn't be in the NHL.

This team has so many holes to fill to be playoff caliber but their prospects pool isn't going to fill those holes with any star.

Fair enough to include Zetterlund.

When I said *other* prospects, I meant the non-bluechip youngsters. Every contender has at least one guy who blew through expectations and became an important contributor.

Very questionable move playing Askarov if he is sick. What's the rush? Let him recover.

Not many choices with a game tomorrow and a game on Thursday. I'm really curious to the extent of how bad Vanacek's injury is.

Thompson looked better than Thrun and should be given another look.

He didn't look good defensively, and I think that's where the team wanted him to improve. He's unlikely to be able to carve out a career as a premier offensive defenseman.

The good thing is Smith produces almost immediately when he's put on a line which makes sense. I wonder how many he'd score if he were given consistent offensive chances.

This is a bit harsh, no? Will Smith has taken a huge step this year. Last year he was a freshman in college, this year he's in the best league in the world with a higher PPG than, e.g., Leo Carlsson, who was taken before him and has a year of NHL experience under his belt.
