All of that was chatter over the span of a couple months. Before that, everyone assumed he'd be in the NHL for at least a year, and even when camp broke, we were all prepared to be pissed off if Johnson kept him from getting a shot.

As to your question--when Miller stops showing regular growth in his game from year to year, it can start to be removed from the discussion. He keeps growing as a defenseman. When that stops, we'll have a sense of who he will be long term as a player.
