I don't believe it's about playing hard enough or effort level at all. I think if you get into a slump and start to question your instincts, you take that extra tenth of a second to consider your options, and that may be enough to miss your chance to make the right choice.

That is true but I did also see some questionable effort plays. One was why he would just let his guy go for a breakaway on a 2-1. That really drove me nuts. Candidly I thought both Laffy and Bread were playing way too loose on defense for a while. I think he is playing better now though.
