I had the Flyers feed and they were very complimentary of the B's. Boucher did accuse Ullmark of diving when Laughton skated in his crease, but otherwise, they were impressed with the Bruins.

They said JVR was on Boston radio between periods and was very emotional returning to Philly.

Oddly the only lopsided category on the stat sheet was the score.

This B's team is far from the fastest or heaviest; but like a good boxer, they know how to let opponents wear themselves out, and then pick their spots. Hockey is a sport in which that can actually work, because it wears on players psychologically.

The Flyers started basically dominating the game. Then one miraculous shot from Pastrnak, through a defender's legs and off the post, and they're chasing the game.

I had a look at the advanced stats too and quickly realized that for a game like this they were largely meaningless. Bruins only really had to step on the gas for 5 mins and in the blink of an eye it was 4-0 and then 5-0, and then they spent most of the rest of the game sitting on the lead, which was fair enough. So while Philly had the better of most of the numbers on paper it really only tells you that they started hot and then at least they kept trying when they had been well and truly blown out of the contest with a long way to go, while Boston just did enough to cruise on home. An unusual contest in that sense.

Must be nice when you can win a game through one good short burst of A grade effort. Especially with holidays looming!

Yeah that’s why a lot of the fancy stat sites have a “score adjusted” drop down to allow you to get rid of the parts of a game that are blowouts.

From time to time, I get the opposition feed, and most of them are quite complimentary about the Bruins play & especially their structure.

gryz 3.6 mil. what a waste

he did have another nice tip goal for the opposing team yesterday tho.

I thought Gryz played pretty well in this last stretch. Anyway it's his last season here, we know that. Complaining will be over soon enough.

We don’t pick until the fourth round this year and, if Gryz is not traded at the deadline, we lose him for nothing in July as a UFA. Is there any appetite for flipping him for picks in March? Does anyone think he brings a roster player in a trade in return?

Why isn't Marchand on the AS team?
Pasta in, Ullmark in, Swayman fan voted in. They don't want too many players from one team in the ASG. "We want every fan to have a reason to watch" to paraphrase Bettman. He has a point. On one hand you want the best of the NHL,bon the other you want all the fans involved and that means at least 1 player from every franchise. Boston has 3 in, not a spot for 4. Our captain deserves it though, but if you ask him I bet he would he quite happy with the week off.
