The emotion that hit myself and my son as we watched this game was ---- boredom. It was like being in a time warp and going back five years to those Jackets games when the CBJ were a bunch of sincere losers. That is what it looked like tonite. A bunch of no-talents trying their best to look like they belonged in the NHL.

I am now convinced the FO is tanking the season. They can't say they are doing that. But when you decide to play for a month with only 12 offensive players and are ready to rotate various d-men into the 4th line, you have decide to tank. For both JD and JK, it is now tank season, but in a very discrete manner.

I can't imagine they would ever tell the players to tank, we are almost healthy and still stink, they put 30 shots on net, just have no finishers. Wonder how long before RyJo requests a trade? Making it harder to sign him in 2 years the more we suck

No MGT tells a team to tank.... they just stop going to their own games.... :sarcasm: lol

If anyone in management, coaching, scouting, or in the locker room mentions tank in a positive way they need to be fired on the spot.

Well at least the 5 or 6 page thread was entertaining to read.

No magic this year.

What a snoozefest! Thank goodness for cheap stubhub tix.

The team started out so poorly tonite. It was 10-2 shots AZ to CBJ about halfway through period 1.

I'm attributing last night's apparent indifference to the likelihood that the reality of this being a non playoff year setting in. There just wasn't much energy in the first half of the first period and most of the third as I saw it. I think that the boys will rebound and their pride will kick in. The harsh reality of the futility of this season is going to kick in every now and then, and portions of this game served as exhibit 101.

My favorite boneheaded play of the night goes to Asinimov. Moving in on goal with complete control of the puck, he passes while in the slot 15 or so feet from the net to............Cory flipping Tropp:shakehead That might have been an example of negative hockey IQ.

Forsberg looks like he's pretty good at passing the puck to teammates. He's pretty quick as well. Made some very nice saves. Can't fault him on goals 1 and 3. The OEL PP goal was a bit suspect, but he may have been screened.

I'll be up for next Monday weather permitting. The non stop booing when Carter touches the puck will make it all worthwhile.

I want to emphasize I never said the FO was telling anyone to tank. I said it was subtle. Things like carrying only 12 forwards for a month and randomly using d-men as forwards when they don't have enough forwards to play a game. The word tanking is never used. But when you decide to play for a month without enough forwards, you have decided to tank.

Absolutely. My playoff hopes officially ended with the loss to Montreal, and Bob's injury gave the FO the green light for a tank job.

I'm eager to see what happens at the deadline and beyond. Obviously need to get a replacement for Horton, who really never got to settle in here, what with the shoulder and the back. I think we also a need a better backup in net, a plus-.500 guy who can start 20 games a year, but I don't know enough to even suggest a name. Beyond that, I don't know what to say about a team that has never really had its projected lineup on the ice. I'm afraid the boneheaded penalties in the 3rd period of the Montreal game stand out more to me than the December surge that gave some of us hope.

It's going to be a painful couple of months, and I know we'll stick it out with these guys like we do every year but I'm already checking to see when pitchers and catchers report. :shakehead

Anyone notice them taking liberties with a Ryan J? For a team that has as much grit as we are supposed to have you would have thought that someone would have stepped up and protected our best player. This shows to me that our team has given up. I'm not saying that Boll should have jumped off the bench or anything.
Obviously the message wasn't sent to the other team because they took liberties with Ryan J all night long. It drives me crazy.

I pretty much concentrated on watching Forsberg last night, and really, wasn't that disappointed. The rest of the team? This season is over, and they know it. Would like to see Forsberg get more starts to get a better handle on where he is at this point.

Believe me they noticed, but at the time we were down so you can't take a penalty that hurts the team, if we were up 3-1, it would have been a different story

Boll takes dumb penalties all the time. What's another 5 in the box?

We lost even Arizona, lost at home. What a mess... Richards has a desire to publicly repent or not as always?

I actually thought that, minus passing and defensive zone play, we didn't play too bad. Seemed like most of the 3rd period was spent in the Coyotes zone.

But my biggest observation of the night was that for the first time in awhile, Wennberg looked like he belonged. I haven't had the opportunity to watch many games, but he looked very impressive. Let's continue that upwards trend with him! Also, get Forsberg more starts. Might as well get him experience if he's giving us just as good of a chance to win as Mac.

The Blues are my Western Conference team. Not going to root for them, but won't be devastated if they win, given our position in the standings as opposed to theirs.

Looking forward to seeing them play.

My sister lives in St Louis so they are sorta my defacto backup team as well. Still, it's hard to get up to go when it hardly seems like a good time or wise use of my money.

May want to add scoring to that list of minuses :sarcasm:
