A DJ second period if I've ever seen one.The way we played I think its fortunate that they played the Blue Jackets. They had a burst of goals in the 1st and managed it after that.
That 2nd period

Yeah it was too cool for Ottawa I guess. I’m disappointed if it’s gone for real.Columbus outplayed us lol. Forsberg finished strong. That post that Columbus hit when it was 4-3 was huge. Team would have collapsed had that gone in.
Also noticed that they got rid of the sound they make over the PA system when they kill off a penalty. Good riddance
Well probably call up Kleven or Guénette on an emergency recall if Zub is still outWe really need Zub back for next game. Can't be giving this much icetime to Chabot anymore.

At one point Sens had no shot for what, 7-8 minutes? Add to that the 2 terribly soft goals and it doesn't take much to make that period look like quite the disaster. To their credit they played a much better 3rd period in terms of not collapsing, being able to stave off some expected pressure. Yes, to his credit Forsy played well in the 3rd when they needed him too. I am liking the game play overall and it's quite an improvement from this Jacques coached team record wise. We said it would take time to turn the ship... Good to see - bodes well for the future.I'm a bit surprised by the 2nd period numbers, I didn't think it was that bad
Didnt win any one on one battles, weren't taking hits to make plays. Overall a very poor game realtive to how they have been playing recently. Young team looked young tonight. Bad opponent that they beat based on skill and not work. 99% of the time if they play like that they will lose. I am glad they won but I hope this isnt a regression we are seeing.I'm a bit surprised by the 2nd period numbers, I didn't think it was that bad
Best game Brannstrom has played in a very long time so thats a positive.Happy about squeaking this one out. I never like the chances after a hyped emotional game when there can be a let down or hard to get the emotion going again. And then not having both Sanderson and Zub and only 5 D total made it look a bit grim.

Hopefully that is not the case. Wonder how bad this Sanderson injury is...Well probably call up Kleven or Guénette on an emergency recall if Zub is still out
The "only 5D" thing is trash. If we have 5D at a weekday beer-league game, it's one too many...
Starting to see results for those "baby steps" you observed were needed with new coaching / leadership. We knew it was going to take time to change. The key challenge will be not to slip backward, to keep learning and doing consistently what is making them successful. It is the constant improvements and reinforcement that will yield results longer term. Upgrade a few positions/players and they should be very solid in coming years. This years objective is to improve, learn, measure and assess players for fit.The Senators improved to 8-2-2 in their last 12 games
Have to mention Joseph as well, he really picked it up and was noticeable in a good way.Best game Brannstrom has played in a very long time so thats a positive.
Played with 5 D and 12 f, missing out two best defensive d, it's not at all surprising we didn't look as good as usual, I'm not saying we played great, I just found those second period numbers looked worse than the eye test (which still wasn't great).Didnt win any one on one battles, weren't taking hits to make plays. Expected back early next week according to Jacques. But he also said they'd know better as the week goes on.Hopefully that is not the case. Wonder how bad this Sanderson injury is...
It does seem like he plays better with more ice time.Best game Brannstrom has played in a very long time so thats a positive.
Yup. They'll have some film room material from this one.. but they got the win. Always good to be able to remind them what they are doing well and what they need to improve onStarting to see results for those "baby steps" you observed were needed with new coaching / leadership.
