What??? Those two statements are contradictory.

There was like 6 statements in that post so of course I have no idea what you are talking about.

It will come.

This is the first year most of them of have had real NHL coaching.

I don't know or maybe it's coaching again but instead of "can't play defense" now we "can't play offense"

This forward group is really not deep and dynamic enough. All these years, all the complaining about the inexistant asset management and such, and this is exactly why it was for.

Remember when we watched Habs vs NYR and said how putrid their defence was? How slow and old rangers were? Then we come in, spot a 0, and get dunked on 7 goals including one by Rempe. Wild given the same roster held the best team to 0 goals in 60 minutes. The roller coaster continues and where it ends nobody knows.

We absolutely should not look down on any team... we haven't proven shit. This is our 8th rebuilding season and we have won 1 more game than we lost and have a ZERO goal differential, we're very mediocre. I know this will get some resistance but this is what the facts reveal.

The Sens are not "very mediocre". They are average like about 8 other teams in the East. Right now they excel at nothing. They can play good defense, they have some talented guys and they have some toughness, But so do most teams. What they don't have is a really talented guy who brings it every night and can consistently be the best player on the ice. We thought Stutzle could be that guy. He isn't. We thought Sanderson could be that guy. He's nowhere close. Brady bring toughness virtually every game but he also needs to score. Guys like Chabot, Norris and Batherson are wildly inconsistent in what they bring. Giroux is too old to play at a consistently high level. The rest of the cast is meh.
Bottom line? They are average.

This kid is in the stable. People want to shit on the Habs.. but.. They have a virtually identical record to the Sens and we should all prefer their prospect pool over ours. Dorion should have been fired years ago. Did he ever mess up his golden opportunity.

IMO the Habs will clearly be a better team than us next season.

Their D is far more productive and they have more depth scoring. Adding in Demidov (which disgusts me that he fell to them), will make them incredibly dangerous up front.

Sens lay an egg...
When this team plays the way Green asks them to play, which requires a lot of effort, they look very good.

How many times can you say unacceptable? How many times can you say embarrassing.

This year we have seen them pull themselves out of the funks more than they have in recent past years. They are in the hunt where they belong to be at this point ..

No more eggs.

GSG.

Honestly forsey actually such a bitch for not fighting Igor , I’m done with this guy
Me too but not for that reason. He was smart; the refs were not calling actual penalties. I hope the Senators send a n rote to the league about this poor ref team.

Yes and its not even close
They are starting their rebuild and we....
They have Hage and Demidov not even on the team that is 2nd youngest in the NHL (last October)
And Hutson is winning the Calder this year and he's a top point D producer in the whole NHL at 20 yo
We have Yakemchuk coming on a team that is even with the Habs right now
Makes me want to throw up

We know who is responsible for that: Dorion and Melknyk.

With assistance from the Scouting staff and Coaching staff.

I hope this team feels embarrassed after that effort.
They have said that before; yet the embarrassments continue.

Lack of scoring really beginning to be a problem.

You can only play D and hope your goalie plays amazing for so long.

PP is atrocious and 5v5 has been an issue all season. No idea what the fix is, but it certainly is ugly to watch.
Changing the PP is the solution; perhaps changing the PP coach too!

not quite a game to remember
This game should be posted on the notice board as "One To Remember". Lest we forget!

The team was 5-0-1. They earned another rookie party uf you ask me.
They have not earned anything. Get into the playoffs and win a few rounds to earn our respect!

I mean I think the base to being a cup contender is establishing a good defensive strategy and playing a disciplined game. No issues with that. Not every team gets gifted a McDavid or a Mackinnon with the first overall pick. If they're going to win it's probably not going to be having the Art Ross winner on the team.

That said, as I mentioned before, the roster construction isn't ideal and Staios doesn't have a lot to work with. The team he inherited more or less dried up all its assets in a futile attempt to make the playoffs. Like, seriously, sit back and look at the franchise's asset list outside of the big club. There's Yakemchuk and...Halliday? Maybe?

Somehow we need to acquire top 6 forward talent. Not sure how that is possible quite honestly. We are losing a 1st so trading a 1st in the next 2 years isn't smart. Probably a UFA overpay or a savvy trade with someone who is unhappy.
Staios did spend $6.5M on Perron and Amadio.

It will come.

This is the first year most of them of have had real NHL coaching.
"Best in Class" right? ? ?

How tf did we let Rempe score on us
It took a unique kind of sucking !

Indeed you are! Of course this means all your future posts must be submitted in quatrain form. Benefit there is your posts can all be rather generic, non-specific, sufficiently cryptic such that we can loop back later and contort them to fit whatever may occur in future, all the while praising you as a brilliant omnipotent prognosticator! Go Nosty!

So what's " very mediocre" then???? I can only assume that to mean poor or below average.

Everything has gone well for the Habs this year. They are playing well but have had virtually no adversity. Even Laine being out was good timing as it didn't happen in the middle of the season and he came in with low expectations for him and the team. Their backup goalie Dobes is putting up unreal numbers 5-0 .941 save % and 1.55 GAA compared to 2.44 and .910 in the AHL. Will he continue like that?
Outside Laine no injuries to speak of so far although Heinemen will be out now for another few weeks.
More concerning for them would be that Slalkofsky is pretty average for a 1OA and who knows what Reinbacher will turn into. Maybe Hage and Demidov will turn out to be great players but more likely they won't and just be average or good. Then they could end up being middle of the pack for years.

The Sens tend to lose in a blowout from time to time.

I am agreeing with most posters that this team is average. However we lost to buffalo 4-0 and then turned the ship around. I expect this team to continue in the hunt for that 2nd wild card spot.

Imagine if Dorion made the sensible move from time to time, we would be closer to Toronto.

Both Slafkovsky (20 y/o) and Reinbacher (20 y/o) will be fine 1 is a top 6 forward with great size still developing.. and Reinbacher was unluckily for him injured his knee requiring surgery he is a top 4 true 2way RD easily if he recovers which is likely.

I hate how much cheap young talent they have coming in through their pipeline. Even without Slaf, Reinbacher, Demidov, Mesar, Kapanen, and Maillou can all start easing into their line up over the next 2-3 years.

Definitely.

I think Staios did a good job salvaging the errors that Dorion made but it did cost the team in terms of options going forward.

Losing the first next year is the one that’ll hurt the most because we are in a position to make an add but don’t have the necessary assets to get that type of player that would improve the team “significantly”.

Turning Debrincat and Korpisalo in Ullmark looks good right now.

Turning Chychrun in Jensen looks good right now but Jensen is also getting up there in age.

That said, the Chychrun and Debrincat trades should’ve been calculated and they weren’t. It’s okay to trade assets if you know you are getting youngish long term pieces. When you get an asset that stays in the team for a year you lose value. Sometimes these littles things are the difference between having one more player that can help you win games or staying outside the playoffs. Real shame Dorion was not fired in due time.

For the playoffs I’m weary of how things will unfold here. Rangers have a team to make the playoffs if they start putting it together and they’re right there with us. They have one of the best goalies in the league, they could easily pass us. For Boston it’s a bit of the same. If Swayman starts to put it together have to imagine they’ll be winning games more consistently.

Then you have two wildcards in Columbus and Montreal. We’ll need literally everything to go right to make it.

Sandy and Jenson should be good. Norris will be out.
Moving Gaudette out of the top 6 finally.
Hopefully Perron is good to go on the 3rd line...

I'd like the top 2 lines .. Yorki suggested moving Cousins up with Stutzle over Gaudette .. but this works too.
Giroux has to help on the puck retrieval and cycle. That was an issue with Giroux Stutzle Gaudette. They needed someone to pressure the puck , disrupt plays and help turn it over
