This was a pretty brutal effort. The boys were out on the town last night and hit the bottles a bit too hard.

Better show up against the Bruins.

Perhaps the simplest thing to try is to shoot more. Can't score goals when you play monkey in the middle most of the time.
For sure, but the last time we played the Rags we had like 40 shots and still couldn't score.

Many games we have inflated shot totals and not much to show for it.

The Tkachuk Norris line has been invisible. Stu has been a total perimeter player and refuses to shoot when he does get inside.

Pinto and Greig seem to have lost any confidence.

It's sort of wild to see the team give up so many less goals, but have their scoring completely dry up.

Your toxic optimism is so f***in ridiculous man lol
Yeah they definitely earned a total no show to an incredibly important game mid season in the thick of the playoff hunt. They've achieved so much the past 7 years, they deserve it.
They didn't earn a no show. But they did earn a night out. Tonight was a brutal effort. But it's not the end of the world.

I mean, yeah, Norris was invisible, considering he didn't play most of the game.

They were in the NY area Sunday night. Why would they go out last night?

This had nothing to with them going out. They struggle to score snd the captain has been a no-show all January. The problens everyone knew they had were just on display tonight.

This team just isn’t dynamic enough. It seems they can only score/play well when the emotions are high. They don’t have a fire inside naturally

We can win games by being « systemic » but it isn’t exciting at all. Zombies and robots who overthink out there

What??? Those two statements are contradictory.

No it's not the end of the world, but if going out affects your job performance this much maybe you shouldn't do it? Celebrate when there's a little x beside the teams name on the standings. They haven't earned shit worth celebrating so far if this is the effort they're gonna give after doing it.

This team despite where they are in the standing has to be the most boring and frustrating team in years to watch.

I rather score a bunch and lose over winning games 2-1.

Low scoring teams rarely win the playoffs if they are lucky enough to make it anyway.

I certainly won't guarantee they went out drinking last night, but I also wouldn't guarantee they didn't based solely on them arriving for check in at the hotel at 10pm on Sunday.

Well that was something. Embarrassing effort by basically all the Sens players, embarrassing display by Shesterkin and also by the TSN truck. Or maybe TSN truck guys wanted to get out of there early and if so I can’t blame them for that. Move on and get things together for Thursday night I hope

Next game is against Boston. We can't afford to lose that one.
Tough stretch coming up I hate being negative but how can one have confidence? Even when they win lots of the time they aren’t scoring much.

Boring and ugly style.

Look at MTL they can afford to fall behind and come back lots

These team doesn’t score first and they lose most of the time we should just change the channel.

I mean I think the base to being a cup contender is establishing a good defensive strategy and playing a disciplined game. No issues with that. Not every team gets gifted a McDavid or a Mackinnon with the first overall pick. If they're going to win it's probably not going to be having the Art Ross winner on the team.

That said, as I mentioned before, the roster construction isn't ideal and Staios doesn't have a lot to work with. The team he inherited more or less dried up all its assets in a futile attempt to make the playoffs. Like, seriously, sit back and look at the franchise's asset list outside of the big club. There's Yakemchuk and...Halliday? Maybe?

Somehow we need to acquire top 6 forward talent. Not sure how that is possible quite honestly. We are losing a 1st so trading a 1st in the next 2 years isn't smart. Probably a UFA overpay or a savvy trade with someone who is unhappy.
