It's also pert of the reason we're so terrible at defending the rush. Cycling the puck is as much a form of defense as offense. If the cycle is broken at the blueline and your d is low in the zone, you're facing an odd-man rush with a forward back--or even best case scenario, the other team is easily gaining the red line to dump it.

This is how they win most of their games the last 3-4 years. Substitute Kreider or Mika in for Cuylle and they're just ass + a top 3 LW they bought + a Norris level Defenseman who fell fully formed from the heavens.

Absolutel, couldn’t agree more and was thinking about that. It’s a very high risk brand of hockey. Fine when Panarin is on the ice because he can make those seam passes but i would prefer they didn’t do it so much.
