why on earth is Benn drawing in over Timmins???? is Timmins one of the guys with his head glued to a toilet?

edit: oops, I guess Timmins is in over Benn. Benn is outright brutal, and will only get worse with age. Timmins can improve with some actual game time, and is already heads and heels better than Benn. Even shows on the chart that was posted earlier.
Timmins passing alone is more valuable than anything that pylon Benn does.
Exactly, anyone wanting Benn in instead of Timmins needs to be checked out by a shrink.

Not sure why Simmonds is in for Hunt. Hunt provides what Simmonds does and more.

Glad to see Timmins back in. However people need to relax a little when it comes to Timmins. He’s missed a ton of hockey over the past few years due to injury, let’s ease him in instead of throwing him into the fire. Even if he only plays half the games remaining due to HEALTHY scratches, that’s a major win for this year. He’ll get a permanent spot on the third pair next year.

I don't follow analytics very much so excuse the ignorance: I am assuming the xGF% doesn't take into account the player's finishing ability. Because Kerfoot and Engvall look like they're going to score every second shift and, well, you know.

Didn’t realize it was Hockey Day, didn’t know that was still a thing.
Hockey is secondary today with the Divisional Playoffs at 4 and 8, for my group anyway.
While I love the NFL, unless my team is playing, the Leafs always take precedence. A second screen will be making an appearance though just the same ;-)

Enjoy the games.

Benn had some solid games earlier in the season and I like him as depth incase of a couple injuries but he should be the number 8 guy.

Glad he's here for playoffs etc but definitely Timmins over him.

Timmins has a good first pass and he's decent in the o zone. Lots of room to grow. Could be a steal forsure.

Maybe they want to rotate some guys?

I don’t really know, Timmins is much more impactful, in both ways

He can make very good plays, have good zone exits and create a lot of offence. However, sometimes he also makes plays that make me seriously question his decision making. Hopefully he takes those out of his game because those are the exact dermott/Galchenyuk/kerfoot plays that hurt us in the playoffs

Never put Simmonds in the line-up again.

He's a great guy, so we all hear. But his playing days are past due. There are younger smarter players on the depth chart that can fill that spot.

Nice to Sandin and Timmins reunited.

They played well together on the Soo and with Liljegren pairing nicely with Rielly, it makes sense to put the former junior partners together.

……. And gotta love Gio, the man makes everyone he plays with look good. The man is unreal.

Honestly, I don’t want to see Hunt or Simmonds in the playoffs.
Simmonds they're going to give him some games but he's kinda toast. Been a warrior a long time and is a great guy but younger guys are coming up that can play a bigger role.

As for hunt he's been alright on the 4th line I thought the last few games... nothing spectacular but I could still see them tinkering at the deadline with a trade or two in the bottom half of the lineup but some other guys would be needed to move out.

Hunt has only played 9 games on the 4th line. Who else should go there right now that plays a 4th line type of role?

Caufield was in full on ice practice a day before they announced the news of shutting him down for the rest of the season. That's one ugly tank move.
Not a tank move. Caulfield is having a career season on a contract year. You have to believe he wants to play to push for a contract above $9M

Gio is making Holl serviceable at his age is beyond amazing bordering on miracle

I like Hunt tbh - on the 4th line. He brings some bite and between him, Kampf, and ZAR they seem to be able to establish the cycle and lay some hits.

I agree, however I think the Leafs may want to not let him light up before re-signing him. He’s started off super strong and if this continues we may not be able to afford him. I assume he’s the Holl replacement for next year. Once an extension is in place I imagine he’s a main stay regular
