No mention of Bolduc in the post-game presser. Neither asking why he was benched or how he is doing if injured. He was benched after Cooley's goal. He wasn't on ice, but his shift ended a bit before that goal. Then he never saw the ice again. So, he was literally benched for half the game. I didn't see anything on his last shift to justify it. There was some contact against the boards and the camera moved away when he changed, so it could have been an injury. But most likely we were down 2, and the Montgomery shortened the bench to get back into it by playing dynamic goal scores Sundqvist, Torpochenko, and Walker but not Bolduc.

We have a lot of up and coming prospects if this is how Montgomery is going to treat them it is going to be bumpy. In a game were you bench the first line, and then do a mini blender because your down two; to not give a guy with actual scoring ability a shot or any ice time for that matter is concerning. I have seen nothing in Bolduc play to warrant that certainly he is better than Torro or Walker with Thomas.

Montgomery is good with young players that's why he's won championships in the last decade+ with younger players.

Bolduc was only 7th on my prospect list coming into the year. I had Fischer ahead of him. Maybe he will prove me wrong though.

I can't defend Sunny, but Bolduc's penalty was pretty dumb. Pointless O-zone penalty that killed all momentum we had up to that point.

But the entire team played like crap, so I don't think Bolduc deserved to be benched. I thought they had Bolduc playing with Thomas and Neighbours for one shift before I didn't see him again.

I lost count of how many shots went wide or how many scoring chances we just choked away. Thomas has looked very mediocre lately and Buch isn't even that. The Fowler/Parayko pair had a pretty bad game as well.

Prolly a better experience than what we had.

It's probably already been said, but that was probably Thomas's worst game of the season.

Good news is that you have to think it's only up from here.

It would be nice to get a 3 game win streak at some point this season.

The Thomas-Buch line last night was dreadful. All four goals came when at least one of them were on the ice and they could not generate any offense.

The Holloway-Schenn-Kyrou line played well but couldn't score. combined for 8 shots.

Buch has been mind-numbingly below average all season.

I wrote this out in my previous post, then decided to delete it so I could sleep on it - but then seeing the Game Score card, I think I will write it out - I don't know what the solution is, but we need to stop matching up Parayko against Keller. Keller f***ing smacks the lunch money out of Parayko's hand every time we play this team, and I'm sick of it. I think Parayko is a really good defender overall, but he simply can't match up against Keller for whatever reason.

Thomas looks like he's pressing so hard. The second goal was a direct result of him trying to go 4 on 1 at the Utah blueline and coughing up the puck. 30 seconds later it's in the back of our net.

We get away from our forecheck/puck management so fast against this team, and it always comes back to bite us. They are another of these teams that play an all-out forecheck, sometimes having all three forwards AND the strong side D clamping down hard - our D core is simply lacking the guy that can burn teams for playing this way against us, and until we find that guy, we're going to have nights like this against teams that aren't very good.
