I’m the first to criticize Slaf for uninspiring play but I have to give him credit, he’s competing hard and much more engaged physically. Great to see. Hope he keeps it up as that will be what makes him successful.
For sure. Weakest 220 pounder I’ve seen play the game, but once he matures he could be scary when angry.

He is finishing his checks, but he telegraphs his passes so much.

I feel like he wasn't doing all of this stupid BS last year in his breakout 2nd half.
Well said. His play making and vision was excellent in the second half last year. Seemed like every game he was making an elite pass or two.

It seems that every mistake results in a goal against us this weekend.
that and they need to get back to the way they were playing on the road. Simplify their breakouts and get the puck out quickly because we panic when other team's forecheck.
We're also going to have to adjust because both the leafs and now NY are doing all they can to disrupt our speed off the rush and the doneky zebras tonight don't appear to be calling anything.
Habs are trying to do too much playing at home

Brutal play by xhekaj on that 2nd goal.

Habs are still getting good chances though. I'm optimistic we can win this.

Bruno Gervais just named the one who shall not be named
Who’s that? I switched over to the football game.

Habs dominated the first period in all aspects other than goals. Lots of Chicken Little, “sky is falling” posts here.

Habs out shot them, and outplayed them. Just didn’t finish. The Rangers got a one in a thousand fluke bounce, and a bad giveaway from Xhekaj. It happens, especially on a rebuilding team on a back to back night stretch.

Newhook reminds me of Nail Yakupov. He’s out there flying around but seems to be going nowhere fast. And doesn’t seem to know what to do when he does get to where he wants to be. Lot of tools but not much of a toolbox.

Great tip by Gallagher. Nice to see him get one. Nobody works harder out there.

The top line was buzzing most of the period. Several high quality chances. Their luck will change.

I think we will see Xhekaj and Rempe drop the gloves this period. I hope Xhekaj is able to take him down but I don’t like the matchup stylistically.
