GDT: [Game #46] Dallas Stars vs. Detroit Red Wings – 7.00 PM CT (Victory+)

Robo just giving Duchene a head start to mae the team point scoring race more dramatic

P. Kane with a brutal effort on the Bourque goal. Hopefully we continue to stay far away from him at the deadline.

39th in NHL scoring.. for an "elite" player that doesn't seem very good. Not in shambles yet.

It's not that I dislike Robertson, especially given his current contract he is doing what I expect. The problem is when people think he is some superstar player who is going to get $10M+ that is a problem.

That was hilarious. That's the P. Kane experience though. The question is whether we need that type of PP specialist badly enough that you can tolerate abjectly terrible defensive play that directly costs you goals.

Agreed, but I'm a hater so he's never gonna be worth it for me.

Who still thinks that?

I think his QO is around the ballpark of 10 million. Do we want to keep him if he’s 12 million a year? He’ll need to be more consistent and put up the numbers he is right now throughout most of that contract or it’ll be a bust.

I don’t hate Robertson but I would definitely trade him. His game wont age to his new contract
This doesn't make sense to me, he's a player that excels on his high IQ that's not something that drastically disappears with age.
Hintz is a player who I would fear isn't going to age well throughout his contract, his game is based mostly on his skating and that goes quickly with age not to mention injury.
I wouldn't want to give Robertson 12m year, and if he's asking for that, then by all means trade him.

If he gets an 8yr deal when his current expires he'd be 34. No older than Miller or Hintz will be when their contract ends.
Nevermind the rumored(God I hope not) interest in Kadri who's already 34

I just think his skating will be worse and won’t be able to keep up

Yeah, normally I would think Robertson is the kind of player who would age well, similar to Pavelski, due to seemingly not relying on mobility. And yet, his surgery caused him to lose a bit of mobility to start off the season, and as a result he was somewhere between ineffective and terrible depending on the game.

So apparently he needs all the mobility he can get, which makes me fear giving him a big contract.

I have hope that Robertson's skating will eventually get closer to Tavares'. Tavares' really improved over the years and it majorly helped his transitions and down low game. I think Robertson's playstyle is basically Tavares when Tavares was his age. He's just gotta work hard on those first few steps because that is what kills him and will make him age out quick if he doesn't get it sorted.
