Coyle picked up an assist on Frederic's goal. Puck deflected off his skate bladeBest.game.of.the.year.
I'm very happy for Parker Wotherspoon, I've liked him since he joined the team. Not a flashy player just does his job consistently & well.
Andrew Peeke had a great game too. Hopefully he builds on this performance.
Charlie Coyle had a very good game although he didn't get a point. I'd keep him, Freddy & Poitras together as they showed solid chemistry.
Freddy had a hell of a game. Loved the way he went with Lilleburg, I think he was really pissed off about that hit on Kastelic. Almost got a Gordie Howe hattrick too.
Zaddy turning into a real bad ass out there. I'll take the odd stupid penalty as long as he keeps opponents in line. Chaffee wanted no part of him that was for sure!
What I liked most of all was how everybody stepped up- the defense in particular has been ravaged by injury. It would have been easy for the Bruins to just fold up. They didn't.
I hope Cole Koepke will be all right. Should have been a penalty.
Call it roughing maybe for 2? Feel like that's their go to when someone's hands get a bit high on a hit. What penalty would you call there? Just an illegal check to the head? I feel like if they did that, they'd make it a major.
I don't think there was much Raddysh could do to avoid contact there. I get that the player is responsible, but the game is so fast.
Without the added danger of a blind side hit, I think I would feel differently about it and let the face contact slide a bit.
I don't think he was head hunting whatsoever, so a suspension isn't warranted. I was surprised they didn't hold to a major though.
I think if they're serious about player safety they need to change the language a bit to protect a vulnerable player. Koepke is hunched over reaching for a puck and he has no chance to protect humself. Granted, maybe a bit of that's on him....That's how I feel about it. In real time it looked like a good clean hit. I don't know what Raddysh could have done differently there either. Brick made a good point too about how we would see it if the teams were reversed. It sucks that Koepke got hurt, but I don't know how you get these type of things out of the game without banning hitting completely.
I just think it's a slippery slope. He definitely catches head no doubt, but again, I'm telling players on my team to take that hit if given the opportunity every day of the week. He kept his elbow down, arm tucked, and drove through Koepke. I think if you're actively looking to punish hits like that you might as well just get rid of hitting all together.Call it roughing maybe for 2? I just think when you hit a vulnerable player with the first point of contact being the head like he did it should be something. Won't lose any sleep over it, but it sucks seeing a guy KO'd on a hit like that.
You are not wrong but he knew the position Cole was in.Bit greasy but see your side of itI just think it's a slippery slope. If Raddysh drove through his head and extended his arm, that's a different story, imo.

and Poitras picked it up and took off. An excuse me assist but it was an assist especially at home.
I think we're singing a different tune if that's a Bruin making that hit. It would simply be a "beautiful hit" - but because it was against a Bruin, it wasn't.Just like at the gym, the slower the harder.Great to see them skating.

Question here, I want to play to lol.Cole was skating on a bit of an angle and pow he was hit .He took shoulder to face or head as he was leaning and was basically knocked. They looked at it and deemed it ok.Fair enough .Now how about when a player is coming over blueline head down or admiring a pass and u drive shoulder into his face and flatten him like say Steven's did to Lindros. Is that the same?Okay, I'll bite, because I am into players not getting head injuries and hate to see it happen: how do they do that? How do you define a vulnerable player and what sort of time frame do you give a guy that is skating 20 MPH to change his mind or body position, and do you also put it on that player to risk injuring himself to avoid contact with a vulnerable player? It seems like opening Padora's Box on hitting.
Right, I was not carrying a pitchfork but this offseason was a huge disaster we didn't need and, Swayman, Neely, the Agent and Sweeney all played there parts. It clearly seems to have impacted his play and the overall results of the team though clearly he was not the only factor in the team's slow start and likely not the biggest, which seemed to be coaching and overall player apathy. He still owes us a couple more of these for the poor start. Step in the right direction of course.
blind side hits don’t care whether the guy being hit has his head up or down. Which is why the NHL doesn’t like themTo that point, does the league tell players they can only hit someone that knows they're coming? Where do you even begin with that? I am not seeing how that can work in the context of a sport that allows body checking. There is some risk out there, and Raddysh followed the rules by keeping his elbows in, not leaving his feet, not changing the hit angle to target the head intentionally.
Steven got 99% of Lindros' head and 1% anything else. He got the chicken wing out, too.Question here, I want to play to lol.Cole was skating on a bit of an angle and pow he was hit .He took shoulder to face or head as he was leaning and was basically knocked. They looked at it and deemed it ok.Fair enough .Now how about when a player is coming over blueline head down or admiring a pass and u drive shoulder into his face and flatten him like say Steven's did to Lindros. Is that the same?
Okfair enough but lots of other hits he delivered or other players have in that type situation. Is it the same if they keep shoulder tucked?Steven got 99% of Lindros' head and 1% anything else. He got the chicken wing out, too.
Well, I didn't really think that far lol. I get it's a tough thing to quantify, but the NFL has started to change the wording to protect "vulnerable" players, I'm sure the NHL could figure it out too.Okay, I'll bite, because I am into players not getting head injuries and hate to see it happen: how do they do that? I don’t know but if you aren’t playing well do you really deserve to be getting a lot of minutes? Carlo deserves to sit for a game or two but with the injuries the Bruins have they don’t have that option.Honest question, is Carlo hurt or something? It says something that both Lohrei and Wotherspoon finished with more ice time than the Bruins #3 veteran defenseman in a key game (especially where #1 and #2 are out), and he's expected to play a major role?
and for most of the game. Nice to see.Against Florida, definitely, but I don’t think they were “badly outplayed” or even just outplayed last night. Tampa has some moments, yes, but I think the Bruins were the better team last night.

@Sheppy is right on this one. Clearly there are predatory hits designed to injure and those should be punished. That's why they look at the primary point of contact as part of the rest of it: leaving feet, getting elbows up, throwing your shoulder higher to get the head, etc. Raddysh didn't do any of that unlike Scott Stevens did on Lindros
Note the chicken wing/forearm leading the way.
