I pay $297 a month from Desjardins for my 2021 Toyota Corolla. I got rate quotes as high as $780 a month from both Intact Insurance and TD.

I have a nearly perfect driving record, no speeding tickets, no DUIs, or anything of the sort.

What is the rationale for this crazy rate? This is private insurance?

The agent said that it may be a bit higher because I'm new to Alberta (despite providing my Manitoba abstract and history of claims) and that in two years it should drop to about $240-250.
