His size and lack of speed could be a factor in his effectiveness. Little guys who play offensive games usually need to have good speed to cover that space. The way Robertson moves is like when you see a normal sized human try to run across an NBA floor. Just looks off.

I do think it’s something that can be worked on. I think it probably has more to do with growing up in California and having to play on choppy ice or not the best skating coaches, either way I think it can be fixed

Leafs need more speed on their PP zone entries, every team is setting up a trap that they need to attack with more speed, they're routinely being forced to make the same plays and getting beat on them. Hard to do when your PP is so out of sync, timing is off & they're lacking confidence, opposing teams are playing them as they should.

They also need to utilize a chip/dump more than they have.

Gotta try Nylander as their primary zone-entry guy, he's the best they have, but the problem is the group as a whole, they're not working as one effective unit coming up the ice.
I disagree. I think we need to skate to the Blueline, drop it back to the guy three zones back and then try to skate through four people. And if it doesn't work, try try again.

Yea, xGF% is 83-17 Toronto with slight deflections and a post coming into play.

Another two periods like that and it's gonna be a 4 or 5 nothing win.
Some fans have to realize that the Leafs aren't automatically garbage when they don't win a period 5-0. It's not a great look

That's the big thing, need to keep building and pressing, not lay off.

We were too cute, but still dominated

My biggest worry is that they don't have enough finishers and it's showing again. The entire team overpasses way too much.

Really impressive considering the competition. How anyone can take anything away from this game is ridiculous

High danger chances were 7-0 that period. If a couple more go in, everyone loves how they played

We are facing a depleted team who haven't played or practiced in three weeks while recovering and isolating from covid. The Leafs should be dominating scoring chances and possession...

Getting praise during intermission for a leafs broadcast is actually pretty huge for galchenyuk. What a career turn around
Whooooooooooa ;)

Jerry :
I don't think you do. You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.

To be fair. Overpassing and lacking finishers are very different things. I don't think we lack finishers. I just think the team gets caught up trying to make the perfect play at times

Great, so they're doing what they're supposed to do. Why is that grounds for saying they played like garbage and need to be much better in the rest of the game?

Haha sarcasm? The drop back pass is a necessary & effective play for powerplays but the Leafs are very much overutilizing it, as well as executing it so poorly even when it could be the right thing to do.

Speed & attack should be the focal points.

I think that is what plagues our PP. All playmakers aside from Matthews and they stick 91 in the bumper spot.

Try Gally on the point.
