His 2015 thru 2017 1st Round picks (****ing 6 of them. which beside #73 ended up being wrong). That and the poor play of Lindholm, Coyle and Carlo and below standard play of #73\#88\#1 have sunk them.

You can go even deeper than the Draft. He needs to go...
Free Agency ---He gets an F and it isn't even debateable.... Backes Belesky and now Lindholm players who's he's over payed for and then had to deal future first to shed the salaries, with the exception of Lindholm but its early.
Trade Market ;... Although He has made some nice deadline acquisitions, He's added no one who's made a long term impact. I guess you can make an argument for Coyle.
That's, A decade of Drafting, Trades and Free Agency. His biggest win by far is McAvoy, then Swayman /Jake but thats it in ten years then it drops off the cliff
He inherited a team with 4 possible HOFers on it in Bergy, Chara, Marchand and Pasta. He also had the likes of Krejci, Lucic, Hamilton, Krug and Tuukka. He's added McAvoy ... in a Decade...WTF?!?!

Then you have Lysell and Poitras immediately prior as their top picks, neither of which fit the mold you describe. I do agree that they have leaned toward your model more often, but occasionally it works out, too. Frederic is one such example, and whatever problems he has, he has provided value for draft position when so many in that spot do not.
Letourneau, who knows, but the Lysell and Poitras picks make me think something might have changed.

I give him some credit supporting core on 2019 team and of course a team he was GM of that holds regular season pts record has to matter.But I still think they need a new direction under a new regime for many reasons, some of which you just mentioned.I do not think Jacobs will think the same way however unless that rink starts having empty seats.Msy take some more damage & time yet .

It might be wishful thinking, but Im thinking if they miss the Playoffs he's as good as gone.
Ill give you 2019, but lets not forget the top 5 scores from that season were all players he had inherited and his big FA acquisition of Backes didn't help that team, a team that was full of future HOF in Bergeron, Marchand, and Pasta along with current HOF in Chara and it also had two guys who will be knocking on the Hall door in Krejci and Tuukka, all players who he inherited and just imagine if he had drafted better in 2015, after trading away Hamilton and Lucic. Imo another cup banner or two would be hanging from the rafters. The guy is in charlies heart, if he wasn't the Bruins would of hired Gorton way back when.
This team needs Claude hockey. Simple, defensive, structure. Tough hockey allowed. Defending teammated allowed.
Not to mention next Tampa game Kucherov or Point should be receiving a hefty visit from Viel. This roster needs to send a message at last.

They have trouble scoring, and their power play sucks. Sounds like Claude hockey to me.

That's basically what Sacco brought back. Zone defense, passive forechecking. And it's what they needed. Monty's new hybrid scheme was a disaster.
Bruins are 2nd in hits and fights. Seems like tough hockey is allowed, as is defending teammates.
Which team sucks more offensively? The Claude's 2009-10 Bruins or this year's squad. I'm going with this year's debacle.
Less Than 32 Thoughts on this:
- Crazy thought: Let's shake up 1C and 2C. Pasta is perhaps the best playmaker on the team. Is it too crazy to try him at centre? Maybe it would at least give everyone a jolt. Likewise, why not try Lindholm at wing? He's shown in the last few games that he can be quite physical. What do we have to lose?

My guess would be, they've been winning just enough, making the Jacobs money and Charlie is fond of both him and Cam.

Seeing as the whole point of my post was around taller players taking longer to develop, that's the only comparison I brought to the table. No where did I say Lohrei would become Chara. Tage Thompson and Lohrei don't even play the same position, but I brought him up as another example of a tall player taking time to develop.

Yep, need to get the ball rolling ASAP. Wasn't the organization's excuse for the 2015 draft disaster the fact that Sweeney was hired so late in the process that he didn't have enough time to adequately prepare? We're looking at possibly having our highest 1st round pick since '15. If you're going to make a move, do it now and give the next management group ample time to prepare itself for what should be a pivotal offseason for the future of this franchise.
Low standard for toughness then.
2nd in hits where not one player other than Kastelic, Zadorov, and occasionally Brazeau hit heavy enough to respect. Not exactly intimidating any team. Astonishingly I should add Geekie to the list. On the forecheck of late he does finish hits.
Bruins bragged about the large defense yet none are proactively physical aside from Zadorov. Not even McAvoy this season.
This team should be tough but they are always, always the nail.
As for the offense question. This season no doubt. And 09 was painful.

You'd need to tell one of his wingers that I'm the Ozone pasta is center, in the D zone pasta is the wing. I couldn't tell you if pasta has ever played C in the pros though either.

I'm scared shitless anytime the Bruins play Carolina and they don't fight or hit anyone. They just use their speed to forecheck and pressure you relentlessly. 1200 hits this year for the Bruins compared to 800 for Carolina. 15 fights to 1.
Speed and relentless pursuit of the puck is what intimidates today. Not big hits and fights.
On Tuesday Kastelic laid out an Oiler with a big open ice hit early in the game. Elias flattened I believe it was Ekholm with a big hit down in the corner. Zadorov practically took Skinner's head off. None of it mattered, they still laid an egg and got embarrassed for 60 minutes.
Was going to say the way the Bruins defensive scheme is set up, no way can he do it with his half-assed defensive skills and sometimes less than stellar work rate. I wonder if Center in the ozone, swap out would work, though. Seems like a great opportunity for confusion and coverage to be lost- it only takes a split second for a fail- and the Bruins really don't need anything else to go wrong right now lol.
