Post-Game Talk: GAME 44 - Tampa 4 BRUINS 1

Lol
Tampa isn't that much of a better team than the Bruins. They certainly didn't wow me. I wouldn't trade Pasta for either although Point you can make an argument for,but Hagel although a very good player isn't in the elite class as those two.

Bruins management Ditto! Swayman although I didnt care for the way he handled the offseason, is starting to come around, I have way more concerned with the Money and contract he handed out to Lindholm
Pasta if far from "elite" in term of a complete player. He gets paid to carry the team offensively he's not doing it, period.

He's been average for a long time now, he can't beat players one on one yet continues to try. He turns it over and then stops and watches hoping a teammate will cover up for him.

He's a pretty dumb hockey player, a free lancer if you will.

You don't win championships with a player like Pasta being you go to guy, sorry its a fact.

Holy $hit how much zone time did they Bruins have on the PP and the bruins penalty kill overloads the box with no pressure whats so at all on the points, hell their defenseman and Kurcherov on the side wall could have a cup coffee while they were out there.

Good point.

It reminded me of the way Gretzky would hold the puck and everyone was afraid to pressure him.
Well, if you give him all day to find someone, he'll find someone.

They did a good job in clogging up the middle though. lol

Not even convinced he should be even on the team anymore he is absolutely brutal on defence, maybe try him as a forward
I would be down with that, but I think he's far from the problem, the Bruins cant score period!

I have to pat myself on the back today, predicted the 4-1 Tbay win.
The B's are going no where this year, highly doubt we make the playoffs.
Play the kids and make some trades to re stock the cupboard.
Start with Carlo and Coyle they are the easiest to move.
Sit down with Marchy and ask him if he wants to take a run at the Cup with a legit contender and trade him for what you can get.
Call up Merk / Lysell and Potsy, start playing them.
Callahan must be playing well in Providence since he is going to the All Star game, call him up to replace Carlo.
Regroup at the end of the year with the additional cap space we have and sign some skilled / fast forwards.

Lohrei might need time in AHL if Poitras does.

Does not use his size whatsoever yet, awful in the defensive zone. Terrific carrying the puck and offensively but this team needs to play much safer defense to win any games.

I don’t trust sweeney to make the right moves if they start moving players

The more I think about it, I don’t think I trust a guy who kept Gryzz here as long as he did to run this team nor do I trust a president who doesn’t seem to be in sync with his gm nor place any emphasis on building a team that’s actually tough and mean

It’s an embarrassment

If I own the team it’s time to identify outside talent and clean house.

Tampa has Kucherov.

However they have many other weapons which the Bruins do not. Difficult to blame Pastrnak.

Send him down to the AHL to improve his game.
The issue we have is, do we have a better player in the AHL to replace him?
Lohrei does not have the skill set to be a forward.

Someone once said if you don't dominate at the level your at you surely wont at the next one. Which Bruins prospects are dominating in the league they play in?

The only prospect who seems to fit that category is Poitras, with very good numbers both in the OHL and AHL.

Sure, there are some exceptions, but as you mentioned, it is difficult to become somewhat of an impact player at the NHL level if you have never been a dominant player at a lower level. For info, Kastelic had 47 goals in 66 games for the Calgary Hitmen in 2018-2019.

All the elite players have the skill set, Mario, Bobby Orr....the list goes on and on.
Wish we had someone like Kuch on our team.

I don't feel "connected" to this team at all. It's like just a bunch of random guys thrown together. It doesn't feel like a team.

Spoiled by 2022-23 I guess, because that regular season was the most fun I had watching hockey, ever.

Best season since 2011.

I don't see them sending down the only d-man that's providing offense lately. He's second on defense in points, I think.

His -16 sticks out like a sore thumb, though.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Sweeny screwed the pooch more than once drafting players. Keep giving away your top 2 or 3 picks in a seven round draft and soon your team will turn into the Buffalo Sabres.

10 years ago the Bruins had a minor blip when they missed the playoffs on the last weekend of the season in 2015 and 2016.

6 straight losses and the only game they banked a point was when Swayman didn't play and he has played his heart out.

Delaware North needs to fire Neely NOW and find a president for hockey ops who in turn finds a new GM.

The person that could do it Jeff Gorton is not available as he is happily rebuilding Poutineville.

I was so excited when Gorton was available a few years ago. Oh well. We get stuck with SeaBass and the Professor.

Once again, the Ford Horseshit power play leads the Bruins to defeat. Pasta tries to carry the puck through, losses it (as usual), puck is cleared. Lohrei has to reverse direction, which takes him awhile, and then he's in low gear as Hagel flies by him untouched. Swayman makes the save, but Cirelli is the next Tampa player in clean. Slow Brazeau is the closest back checker. Sad. If it was a 5-1 game late in the game, OK. But this happened in the 2nd period of a tie game.

Overall, B's played a much better game. They were engaged, physical, focused. Could have easily won this one with a little luck. Hasn't been much of that lately.

Beautiful goal by Lohrei, but he's now at -16.

Do the Bruins win a single faceoff when shorthanded or on the power play?

Zadorov led the team in hits (7) and blocks (4).

Love Kastelic, but if he's going to take a run at a guy with 2 seconds left when down by 3 goals, I have no sympathy for him getting clocked.

Coyle's +1 the only plus for a Bruins player over the last 2 games.

TAMPA — This one got ugly.

In the waning moments of the Bruins 4-1 loss to the Lightning at Amalie Arena Thursday night, they may have lost Mark Kastelic, arguably one of the team’s most underrated players and a spark plug all year, to a vicious cross-check to the face from Emil Lilleberg.

With the game already decided, Kastelic went to finish a check on the Tampa Bay defenseman, who led with a two-hander to the Bruins’ forward’s chin. The two fought, but it was clear Kastelic was at a disadvantage. Lilleberg was given a cross-checking major and a game misconduct.
“It was a pretty cheap cross-check, I thought,” said Boston winger Morgan Geekie. “Obviously we’re not too happy about that.”

There wasn’t a ton to be happy about for the Bruins, who lost their sixth straight game and next will visit the reigning Stanley Cup champion Panthers for a Saturday matinee.

“Right now, they’re not feeling great about themselves, and neither are we [as coaches],” said Joe Sacco. “No one wants to lose in this league. You’re in this profession, in this business, to win hockey games and get results. So, we’re not getting them right now.”

“It’s a good hockey game. We killed off some penalties early in the game. We kept ourselves in it. The power play, we give up a shorthanded goal, and that certainly takes a lot of wind out of your sails, but we’re still in the game. It’s only 1-0,” said Sacco, who is 12-10-2 since taking over. “And then we give up one last minute of the period. That’s not a good recipe for success. Those goals, they are pretty much gift goals, but that’s on us.”

Slow starts, playing from behind, and blunders at bad times have been consistent bugaboos during this stretch.

“We’re shooting ourselves in the foot time and time again. I feel like lots of these mistakes are kind of self-appointed,” said Geekie. “But yeah, I mean we’ve got to figure out in this room, and we’ve got guys that can do that. I know I believe in each and every one of the guys in this room and it’s something that we’ve got to figure out. Our coaching staff is giving us all the tools and systems and it’s on us to execute and that’s what we haven’t been doing. So, we’ve got to learn to build our game from the start of the first puck drop and play a full 60.”

The third period surge buoyed the mood in the locker room as the club looks for answers to stop the swoon.

“You dig in,” said Swayman, when asked how to snap out of it. “We haven’t had this adversity before, at least in my tenure here. And what an opportunity and that’s the way we have to look at it. We have each other’s backs and that’s one thing I know we won’t lose in this room is having each other’s backs and the last two seconds of the game isn’t going to go unnoticed.”

The clubs square off again Tuesday in Boston.

Well when your draft philosophy is drafting guys in the first round as you see as 3rd liners in the NHL, (Beecher/Frederic) your not going to have to many. lol

Sweeney needs to walk the plank......

Last 6 games. 11 goals, 24 against, lol.

The Bruins have 4 positive players in +/-, Zadorov, McAvoy, Kastelic and Koepke - 5 if you count Lysell's 1 game.

4 players who are "even" 2 of which are goaltenders, Oesterle who's played only 16 games and Viel who's played 1.

The rest are all in the minus.

That's so f***ing hilarious.

So odd in that 2 of them are top pair defenseman and 2 are 4th line forwards.

They most likely are not out on the ice together very often.
