Having brown in the lineup is puzzling to say the least
I blame it more on the org not finding the right toughs. Last year they specifically obtained Carek or whatever the f*** his name is. He did absolutely nothing. Now its Brown. We need a tough to be inserted in games like this because Wild really play us heavy and will take liberties. But Oilers don't seem to be targeting good players for this role. Or even people willing to perform it. So that its an org problem of not finding the quantity needed.

CLOUDER. :(

I still remember the talk leading up to that draft, almost no one talked about broberg and everyone thought zegras was a sure fire star. Meanwhile me and maybe one other poster here on hfoil wanted boldy, i was calling him a surefire 70+ point winger with size and he reminded me of Rantanen at the time
In hindsight even the Zegras pick kind of sucks. Dude has character issues. Cocky bitch.

No shit we are gonna say not that way. He could use his stick as a battle axe, that would be physical too but I think we'd all agree it'd be pretty dumb if we wanna be in the business of winning hockey games.

And it's not like he was defending Davo or something. He got hit himself if I'm not mistaken, and took a selfish retaliation penalty against a guy that isn't even a real difference maker. So even if they evened up the penalties, it's of no real benefit. Its not like he was doing that to Boldy or something. Just selfish and bone headed all around.
I'm not defending it and Brown has had multiple times where he could get involved. I don't think he's particularly bright but again this is an org problem in that how are they not finding the right guy to perform this kind of a role. It isn't that hard to find a goon. One that can actually picks his spots better and not hurt a club.

Wasn't a great penalty to take but refs bought the forward swan dive by Trenin. Weak sauce.
Yeah, but guys who bring absolutely nothing but toughness to the game are getting that call against them every time. They never get the benefit of the doubt. This game so far is a good example of why I would love to see Fredrick from Boston acquired. Functional toughness that isn't a liability. Olivier likely isn't available any more due to Columbus playing better.

My opinion is that if they are going to put 1 million in the lineup for toughness alone, there are much better options and for less $ too.

Carrick was fine. Didn't hurt the team when he was on, killed penalties, heavy hitter, good figther if called upon, and isn't completely inept with the puck. Think he got the same term and money as Brown. Wouldn't mind him as 4C this year.

I don't get the fawning. Dude's playing in Buffalo. Absolutely zero pressure.
And he's incredibly inconsistent. He could still gain that over time, sure.

I do think both sides won that trade. Buffalo needed some NHL ready talent with long term control. We don't have a problem attracting NHL talent to fill out the depth year to year. Our big weakness is high end prospects. Savoie checks that box

Someone should just slewfoot hartman.

Its only a 5k fine.
You forget that player safety uses this for assigning fines, suspensions etc

Still skates like lightning and responsible defensively at a cheap 2M per. Plus now more scoring, with opportunity I guess.
Will be interesting to see how it plays out for him. He's on pace for .5ppg with essentially no powerplay time and will be arbitration eligible. Could see him getting 4+ for long term.
