Thats what i mean, they will. Its going to take him the rest of the season to rebuild his in game dexterity and his body will need time to readjust to the physicality of hockey.

C'mon, we are talking about a guy who injures vehicles when they hit him. Physical Schmysical.

Greene will be fine. May be a 75% Greene, but that is SO much better than the guy he's replacing. Frankly, Ellerby could not track a telephone pole in his zone of late.

Prepare your butts tonight guys. Lol.

Ellerby has been invisible recently. I haven't even noticed him. He used to hit. Muzzin is still making his presence known.

You really haven't noticed Ellerby? I've noticed him for all the wrong reasons, like trying to handle the puck in front of Quick and turning the puck over and failing repeatedly to get the puck out of his end.

This might be the greatest compliment Ellerby has ever received. He's been far from invisible -- in a bad way. The guy has the hockey sense of a junior-level player.

Tough game here. We're going to need our big guys to bring it, especially Quick. It's good that Quick has been rounding into form lately, because for the remainder of the schedule, he will not have one easy goalie matchup.

Tough game??

We got this - the timekeeper is on our side!

Kings 5-4 OT (keep the CBJ dream alive...)
Richards w/ gwg

Ellerby came in and was hitting everything in site, now he is invisible. Why is he playing over Martinez?

Muzzin is really making it hard on the Kings. If Mitchell comes back, the Kings have some tough choices considering Voynov (RFA), Doughty, Martinez (RFA), Muzzin (RFA), Ellerby (RFA), and Greene will all most likely be back next year. That's 5 guys right there minus Mitchell, Regeher, and Scuderi.

Pretty mad that Martinez isn't playing alongside Greene

Playing Muzzin alongside Greene is absolutely the right call. Would you really want a Matt Greene who hasn't played literally all year, coming into his first game at the same time as the first game back for a player who has, in essence, been benched for poor play?

I agree Martinez should be re-paired with Greene, and I understand there are few games remaining - but tonight is not the night for it. If Greene plays well/feels good after tonight, try it next game.

Kings could potentially walk away from Ellerby's RFA contract and re-sign only one of Scuderi/Regehr.

Regehr/Scuderi-Doughty
Mitchell-Voynov
Greene-Muzzin

Extra: Martinez

That would be ideal. Mitchell's uncertainty has me thinking that we may see Regehr back with the Kings next season. The only way Ellerby gets brought back is on a two-way contract, and even if he does get re-signed, he'll still be 8th on the depth chart for dmen. He's still a raw product who could turn the corner, but he needs a ton of work on his play in his own end.

I figure by around 2014 that Forbort may get a sniff at the NHL and may make one of the left handed dmen expendable in a couple years. The great thing is that the Kings have their right side of the blueline covered with Doughty, Voynov and Greene. I expect Lombardi to lock up Voynov and get Greene's deal extended next year.

The sad thing is the Kings don't have a Scuderi, Mitchell or Regehr in the minors. No one really knows how Forberts game will translate into the NHL but he is not as physical as the latter two I mentioned.

Kings are set with puck movers for years, but I would like them to draft a young, tough, stay at home D man soon. They traded Teubert, and granted he may never make it, they need someone like him. Andrew Campbell is not an NHL'er.

Forbort is very comparable to Scuderi.

So is Ellerby despite the fact that he's the defacto whipping boy of late for so many of you ...

oh and t-minus 3 ... 2 ... 1... until Matt Greene takes a roughing/holding/hooking penalty and all the usual suspects come out of the woodworks screaming ... "Greene you idiot", "Neanderthal", "You F'ing Moron", etc. :shakehead

I already have a list of people in mind that I'm sure will be posting such.

So much depends on Mitchell.

Yep ... depending on his health condition going into next season, I see us only retaining 2 of these 3 - (Willie Mitchell, Rob Scuderi, Robyn Regehr), obviously if Mitchell can't go it's Scud's & RoaR, but if he's healthy then I think it's who will be cheaper to retain Scud's OR RoaR ? and if they know far enough in advance about Mitchell, can Lombardi work some sign and trade magic to get something back ? or does he just let one of them walk in UFA for nothing ?

Obviously Greene, Doughty are back ... and Voynov will get himself a nice payday ... and I think all the RFA's will be retained in some way or another, Muzzin for sure, but also A-Mart and Ellerby. I know it's cool to hate on the Kid, but Ellerby could be a cheap long term replacement for a Scuds or Mitchell type of D-man, and would be closer to developed product than Forbort would, who one would think is still 2-3 years away ?

I never hate on Matt Greene. I met the dude and he is a solid guy. The Stoll/Greene trade changed the Kings for years considering what type of guys Stoll/Greene are off the ice and how popular/respected they are around the league.
