Playing these guys in the first round is nice because we win. But man I'm sick of that match up.

Also, is dark mode gone now? Opened this site on my phone in a dark area and shocked my eyes with light :p

It seems like the Oilers and Kings are simply playing for home ice against each other in the 1st round, AGAIN, so might as well just go ahead and win this game. Still relatively early days of the season but the Oilers and Kings already seem to be locking in to 2 and 3 in the Pacific as is written in the stars seemingly.

Oilers are playing for the cup. LA is playing to beat the Oilers in the 1st round

I hope Foegele gets a breakaway, only for his hands to fail him at the last moment as he slips and falls face first into the boards.

How in the flying f*** is Jeff SKinner still scratched and Josh Brown is in? lolll

Coach gone full **tard

I hope they get Skinner (either one) traded asap. Get that cap space or find somebody else. SKinner sucks defensively anyways and coach also sewered him. Can't be playing him in the bottom 6. Too slow as well.

Interesting comment. Against the rest of the league last year their standings were:

Edmonton - 46-26-6 for 98 points
LA - 43-25-10 for 96 points

Had LA won the season series that may have been enough for them to get home ice. That said, in the two home games they had, they were outscored 7-1. Overall in the three playoff series Edmonton is 6-2 in LA vs. 6-4 at home.

Interesting fact, since LA's last cup win they've only won 2 games at home in 13 attempts.

"The Kings are gonna be a problem this year, I don't think the Oilers can measure up this time!"

Said all the same posters on January 13 2022, January 13, 2023 and January 13, 2024.
The Kings aren't a problem skill-wise; they're a problem in terms of their physical style increasing the wear and tear on our players.

Last year, the top two teams in the regular season in terms of even strength xGf% were the Panthers and Oilers. This year, the Oilers are 4th, and the number 1 team in league xGf% are The Kings. We shouldn't take them lightly, not just now, but in the playoffs. (For those who are curious, top 4 are Kings, Devils, Canes, Oilers).

Their goaltending has stabilized, the additions of Gavrikov and Edmundson have helped immensely on the back end, up front, Kopitar has turned back time, and Foegele was a great add. Two young guys in Byfield and Clarke also took big steps. This is not the same team from the last 3 years, they're improved. How much improved, we will see come playoffs.
