I think Thrun has definitely made some improvement over the beginning of the season. Best evidence is that I don't always know when he's on the ice. Seems like he's playing more confidently and just making solid decisions.
He seems to play really well when his job's on the line and kinda ass when he's complacent.

Maybe. Moneypuck has the "deserve to win o-meter" at 65%+ for NJD. 3.98-2.93 xG. It was a close game but I think they had the edge.

In addition -- every win vs a top team like NJD is kind of definitionally a stolen game!
it's funny, not having watched much of the devils this season exept the games vs us i'm like, what's the big deal? 😅

Toffoli has a hot start but seemed to just be a passenger as the game went on.
Us old guys can only stay, I mean play hard for so long.

smith needs to get quicker with the decisions and just straight up stronger. if he becomes legitimately strong he will be a star player.
Yeah I wasn't seeing it earlier in the year but the light is starting to come on. So far the people who said he starts slow were completely right. His numbers aren't jumping off the page but watch this game compared to his first and it's night and day. He's got enough credibility as a scorer in his hockey career for me to believe he'll start finishing these chances sooner than later. He's making plays that work he's just not finishing, that's much different than a player not getting the chances they did at other levels where you start to worry about if their game will translate. Gotta be hard to be a "normal" 18 year old on a team with Celebrini.

I haven’t been able to catch many games this season since my wife and I have a newborn but I caught some of the game today and just watching Askarov……I thought about all of those years in the playoffs hating going up against the Kings mainly because of Quick or envying teams that had an elite goalie like Boston had with Rask, TB has with Vasi etc. it’s going to be awesome once we’re back at that contending level going into it with Askarov. The future with this team is so bright. Grier has done a great job so far.

Jesus what a win! Don't worry I watched it afterwards (because of the superstition after the last win, thank me later hehe)

Look at this Graf!
Ask(arov) and you shall receive, Mack is always back! Damn, this team! Man!

hes gunna be a HOFer. I know its crazy to predict that for an 18 year old, but what he can do at his age, is historic. Imagine he had sop end linemates!?? Or a superstar Defensemen who could distribute or force defending teams to spread out more in the D zone.

Celebrini is a future Captain, Hart Trophy winner, and quite honestly, Stanley cup winner to be.

We’re definitely beating Vegas to make it 3 playoff teams in a row. Celebrini goal with Smith/Graf points and an Eklund assist in his return. Not to mention Ferraro waved to me and the fam personally too (after we realized it’s him in his suit) as he drove off from the arena. Fun day.

Not enough kudos given to Vlasic and what his leadership on the ice and in the room has brought to the team. It’s no wonder the Sharks are undefeated with him on the roster.

Here’s some advanced stats:

1. Vlasic has as many points as Celebrini, Eklund, Granlund, and Smith since he’s been back
2. The defense now has back to back game winning goals with Vlasic on the roster
3. Askarov putting up a combined 94.5% against two playoff teams with Vlasic’s help
4. Holding Point, Kucherov, Hedman, Meier, Mercer and Hamilton to a combined 0 points

While this is kinda hilarious, I have been impressed by pickles. he got a bit walked by Cotter, but he made some good plays, and definitely looked like he belonged. Good to have him back :)

p.s.: Maybe the rangers will trade for him? We took their garbage, so they take ours? cant really hurt 'em?
