Has Ceci-Thrun been kinda...good lately?

let's not get ahead of ourselves

The ref with a low key pick in the corner on the Devil would have me furious as a Devils fan. Hilarious stuff

did the ref actually get in the player's way or did the player trip over himself trying to maneuver the puck around the ref?

I missed some stretches of the game but from what I've seen Graf looks like he belongs? That one play with him, celebrini and smith was incredible if only Smith had been able to make a solid connection. Looks like a poor man's Celebrini out there to me. Type of player who is useful in just about every situation.
smith needs to get quicker with the decisions and just straight up stronger. if he becomes legitimately strong he will be a star player.

With a game on Tuesday and then another on Friday, is Askarov gonna get both of those before Vanacek gets Minnesota on Saturday?
I’m guessing Vanacek will get the conditioning stint with the Cuda. No way you send the cancer that is Georgiev down to the cuda, I’m hoping they “loan him” to a team outside the franchise

Quick notes:
  • That's what we call "stealing a game" folks. Asky with a great game but we also got hella lucky twice with Devils missing open nets on the backdoor.
  • PP is dogshit. We're really struggling to establish the zone. When we do, we're slowing it down way too much, today Wennberg was the prime villain. When they were moving feet AND puck, we got a couple great chances including Smith hitting crossbar, and then the moment wennberg slowed it down on the wall, turnover. Just in general on the PP it feels like we lose every battle for the puck.
  • The Kid / Hobey line really needs to lift some weights. As I expected, they're exciting and dangerous on the rush but pretty toothless in establishing possession. Good news is that Graf looks like he could stick, he has the speed, effort, and doesn't get knocked off the puck quite as easily.
  • Along the same lines, just a gut feeling, but seems to me like the grind is weighing on Macklin (and obviously Will). He hasn't been nearly as sharp in the last few games. However, we have also played the most games of any team and everyone except Granlund gets a break for 4 nations, so hopefully they can finish strong.

I'm not sure he needs one. If he's healthy we'll have a pretty clear idea of what Grier wants this year based on who he ends up going with.

I’m not saying he needs it just buys Grier more time. Like someone else said it’s the wrong message to send reassigning Asky to the cuda at this point he gains nothing for it from a development stand point

I'm not so sure that's a stolen game, they played the devils strong throughout and markstrom had to stop several huge chances of his own. It's not like they were being dominated out there.

Imagine putting up a .923 behind this defense
actively improving the defense by passing it to them lol

That's fair about buying more time. I think the kids in the Cuda have something special going on there, which would be the only reason I would accept sending Askarov back and not demoting Georgiev. There's still a ton of possible future Sharks talent on that squad with Byst, Cardwell, Luca and Shakir (if he gets reassigned) so let them thrive as a winning team.

Yeah. I thought the game was pretty even though NJ stepped on the gas in the third. Jacob definitely kept the score close with some pretty solid saves earlier.

Maybe. Moneypuck has the "deserve to win o-meter" at 65%+ for NJD. 3.98-2.93 xG. It was a close game but I think they had the edge.

In addition -- every win vs a top team like NJD is kind of definitionally a stolen game!
