Matheson is actually playing great hockey since he's not being overplayed. Having Carrier eat up key defensive situations allows Matheson to shine as the smooth mobile def that he is

He has been playing great! And this team is much better with him on it. That said @morhilane is right, in that for whatever reason Matheson tends to have a real clunker of a game every 5 or 6 games. Not sure why it happens, but it does.
