Meh, I think Dach will be that player easily next year. I think he's already started to come around again.

But we've also got assets to get a 2nd Line C if we feel Dach isn't the player... I do, but I'm not against the idea of looking outside the organization to improve that role either.

He doesn’t have the IQ or defensive game to hold that role.
Would be a waste of these good seasons but our 1st line.
And I don’t think it’s a good idea to go into the season without a 2c again.
We got lucky our 4th line is playing like a legit 2nd line, but we may lose 2/3 of the line.
Will end up being a step back.
The goal should be to find a real 2c.

Matheson is not garbage.

Don't be ridiculous.

He's a player who's being overplayed, no doubt. But he's also still eating crazy minutes. He's basically a modern day Brisebois - good player who is being overused because we haven't developed or acquired a real #1.

Matheson is paid like a second pairing defenseman but played like a #1 or #2.

I promise you, he’s garbage and is being carried by our rookie 1D.
