I doubt Arvidsson would have been called if he didn't get dropped. But the refs knew they had to call the cross-check and now had an excuse for a terrible even-up call.

Ovechkin had Backstrom, Sid had Malkin, Kane had Toews, McDavid has Draisaitl, Bedard is all alone. MacKinnon had to wait a couple years to break out, probably no coincidence that Rantanen came around that time.

I’m hoping they get McKenna in a couple years.
