Before there were fancy stats, there were gut instincts. My instincts are that the stars are misaligned for this year's Bruins. Goalie trade to divisional rival, other goalie holds out, lame duck coach has a broken Give-a-S**t meter and is fired, PP makes you wish they'd pull an NFL maneuver and decline the penalty, GM busy building team for exhibition tournament, etc.

Doesn't mean we can't enjoy the games, and the last two had lots of exciting moments, despite the outcomes.

Oh and it's not Bon Jovi's fault the B's give hockey a bad name.

Van Halen rules, and I applaud the Leafs making Panama their goal song. Dig the tune, but hearing it six times in one night is a bit much.

In the next year or so, they need a new “turning point in franchise history”.

I’ve lived during at least 4 of them.

Orr
Bourque
Neely Trade
Chara signing/Bergeron emergence

Obviously there were other things that contributed to each of those “eras” so to speak….but this team needs to win a trade a la Neely, convince a legit likely HOF player to come here or draft a guy who far outperforms expectations.

They all got trapped deep.I try not to blame the odd man rushes or breakaways on the goalies. It would have to be a pretty blatant miscue
When McAvoy went to the net, Marchand knew that he was the last man back, but decided to move in for the shot anyway. It was a good save and a very favourable rebound for the Isles that Horvat picked up in full stride while Marchand was caught flat-footed and a little gassed

..the effort in the 3rd and OT was there, but their strategy on that play was not great and backfired on them

Another frustrating trip to the Garden- I think the new coach bounce is officially dead

Went with a good friend who is a life-long Isles fan - we agreed before the game the outcome would be bad loosing to worse

Might have been 4-5 Bs who put in a real effort - the rest were passengers content to watch the game and not get their jerseys dirty. This is a team in dire need of a (major) shake-up

Well... too little, too late. That structure and discipline we saw early in the Sacco era seems to be all but gone. Granted, Korpisalo struggled. Everything looked difficult for him. Way too easy for the Islanders to get good looks in the middle of the ice.

Pastrnak looked good the last two periods. Actually strong enough to win a few battles. Not surprised he scored.

I was in favor going "all in" on the heavy/hard to play against group. Major backfire though. They don't play heavy and they aren't hard to play against... They are just bigger, slower and less good in just about every aspect....

What Kind Of Trade?

Nibbling around the edges, as usual, or beginning the rebuild that should have begun 7 years ago.

You tell me.

B's will always be my team but my gut tells me this is the start to a downward spiral to the basement.
They can retool as they always do. They don't have to descend to the basement.

Yet, again, as long as those two are in charge..

I watched the last two periods. Second was none too good. Third was obviously better, but man is this team slow. Barzal has more speed than our entire team. Coyle was bad. He struggles against the Isles for some reason. Marchy was bad as well.

Otoh, I thought the d pairings were better and Zadorov played well. Succko's line changes continue to confound though.

What would You prefer for Marchand to do, dump the puck into the corner and go for a line- change?

That’s 3 on 3 hockey, Korpi needed to come up with a big save and didn’t. You can’t blame Marchand for having a grade a scoring chance. Their goalie came up big ares didn’t. They capitalized on their scoring chance we didn’tu.

When the Bruins iced slower teams in the past, they could get away with it with excellent team structure and being able to pass the puck. Now, they struggle at making passing plays, make too many " prayer " passes, and have wingers who are painfully slow in transition. The team needs a serious injection of speedy players.

Yeah I originally thought where’s the situational awareness. You got 2 guys in on top of the goalie crashing the net covered. You certainly can’t miss the net and have the puck go the other way - that’s the obvious one but you don’t want to give up a juicy rebound either. It was a prime shoot to score opportunity - Marchys trying to get it above the pad below the blocker …looked like there was room or he was baiting him and makes a good reaction save and of course at that level they’re so good at stirring rebounds.

This is the problem with being an in-between team. We'll likely be just good enough to get into the post season or at least be in the mix so we'll waste more assets bringing in pieces that won't help but not remotely good enough to get out of the first round if we get in. This team is so poorly built and has nothing at all coming up the pipeline. Not good times to be a B's fan.

Would you guys rather we squeak in or noticeably fall out to force some real change with this team?
