I guess that Binnington lost sight of the puck when a skater skated by. Not a good way to start off a game. And now Binnington gets his stick knocked away by a Wild player skating into him, and can't get his stick back in time to make a save on a goal, after 2 pad saves. That should have been goaltender interference.

Bennington was outside the crease
Per the Rulebook.

Protection of the Goaltender: A Goaltender is not ‘fair game’ just because they are outside their goal crease. A penalty under this rule will be called where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with the goaltender anywhere on the ice. Likewise, Referees should be alert to penalize goaltenders for infractions they commit within the vicinity of their goal.

Morgan MacPhee and Tom Chmielewski are the refs. Can't wait to hear the explanation the NHL gives to protect these two clowns. These two should be changing oil at the local jiffy lube. That should have the height of their careers. A peewee hockey official makes that call. Army should be notifying the NHL right now that his team is continuing this game under protest. That was honestly one of the worst non calls I have ever seen at the NHL level.

I’m so confused on many levels. Of course the 1st being how the ref who was standing directly in front of the collision that clearly showed Zucc running into Binnington without anything close to a push by a Blue.

Then the Wild score before Binnington was fully set as he just picked up his stick the puck was in the corner before he was set! No challange??

There’s no accountability for refs and the NHL won’t issue any public statement for it.
