But only in one end of the ice.
Who scored the Leafs first goal? Left point defenseman Jake McCabe. Watch the replay. Pasta's on his way out of the zone when McCabe steps up all alone and scores.
Maybe Pasta's linemates couldn't keep up with him because he was a half a zone ahead of them all night.
Yeah I'm aware of the play. Pasta jumps the gun and is looking to fly the zone because he assumes Lindholm is going to win the puck. But it was a 50/50 contest and David probably had no right to just drive by and hope for the best. However, he does that
all the time. Anticipation is a big part of his game and it can be an asset if used well. But for sure your judgment needs to be good if you're going to play that way. And sometimes Pasta is, shall we say, over eager, just as some of the plays he tries on offense are extremely low percentage.
It is how he is, the good and the occasional bad, and as I think I've said before, I've given up expecting his game to develop any further. My gut also says that if a coach tried too hard to curb his natural instincts and become a more fully two-way, responsible player, he'd likely cease to be effective at all.
