I always get a kick out of watching the old replays of games back 60’70’s with the smaller goalies and equipment, man there was a lot of net to shoot at.Lol
That was me, started in the 70's. My 1st set of goalie gear constantly had extra padding duck taped to where I got nicked up. My last set from my 40's would be illegal now. (I was really good in the men's leagues; I played in with that stuff. 4x6 goal with a 3.5x 5.5 goalie):naughty:

There are two conversations here

1. The fact that there are so many other mediocre teams around & below them in the standings means that making the playoffs remains a real possibility.

2. This team isn’t good. They played .700 hockey for a ten game stretch after they made a coaching change. Other than that, they’re .500 and mediocre-bad. Even if they do make the playoffs, they’re going nowhere because they’re not good enough. Their roster isn’t talented enough.

Its getting worse next year and they will absolutely DNQ. They are barely over 50\50
to make PO this year assuming #27 returns in decent shape. Without him their LD is a
****ing tire fire defensively, with #91 and #6.

48 & 27 was more sound defensively than 6 and 91.

I think it’s time to trade Korpisalo as well, just to save some money. Bussi can bring similar numbers. This team lacks young top end talent.

Zegras would be a perfect fit or Petterson even better.
Pasta needs help on offense.

Blow it up but fill it with young explosive untapped talent. Whalstrom would also thru e with more skilled players.

We need skill!

Frederic can also go. Geekie, depending on money can go or stay.

I’ll say it again this team needs top end talent, somehow!

Nurse plays with a powerhouse team though ..It's apples to oranges.Put Nurse here instead of McAvoy . Boy would that get ugly fast
Agree on Nurse. Like I said at 9.5 I dont like either of them. The cap space their absence would provide is worth far more to the team than their actual play is.
However, McAvoys game fell apart long before this season drop in over all team performance.
Stands out more now because fans are counting on him to be better.
Panthers series 2023. He was horrible, haven't seen him improve on that. Was lousey against the Leafs and Panthers in 2024 play offs as well.
Lots of Dmen round the league playing great on bad teams. Eye test on Mac himself is not good at all. More concerning is its going on a couple hundred games.

Problem was Ullmark wouldn’t agree to an extension until the season started ,which limited what the Bruins would get in return,Korpisalo hasn’t been terrible, but no way they should have brought him in,unless they had zero faith in any of their prospects,or maybe they just desperately wanted a 1 st round pick.
That's absolutely what it was. And I guess possibly a bit of misplaced faith in the magical powers of Goalie Bob.

I can't believe they still refuse to make trades with their vets. Gryz and JDB ran their contracts down. Overpaid plug middle liners like Carlo and Coyle same thing. Freddy will leave for nothing.

What is Sweeney scared of it's addition by subtraction when guys get that complacent. Hopefully he's gone too.

It is highly unlikely they make the playoffs. Every team not far behind them have games in hand.
Yep even the Habs beat the Avs to close the gap.

I thought Pasta was pretty good, even aside from his 2 goals. Good compete level, engaged, looking to make plays. But he was held back by his linemates, who just couldn't match his tempo. He probably got caught puck-watching on Knies' 3rd goal, otherwise no real complaints.

The rest you mentioned were indeed awful or, in Swayman's case, just blah.

But only in one end of the ice.

Who scored the Leafs first goal? Left point defenseman Jake McCabe. Watch the replay. Pasta's on his way out of the zone when McCabe steps up all alone and scores.

Maybe Pasta's linemates couldn't keep up with him because he was a half a zone ahead of them all night.

Do you think Ullmark maybe intentionally screwed the Bruins over by not agreeing to sign an extension with Ottawa at the time of the trade?

Why would he do that?

Don’t know maybe he didn’t like sitting for most of the playoffs

Come on shep halfway in season plus our record isnt completely disastrous. Heck we might still close a top 3 Atlantic division spot if they can get inti a bit of a hot streak. Win tomorrow against fish sticks and start there .
Don, not interested in taking a side between you and Shep, but don't you think your point would be better served if we had GM, that was not MIA !..........we have that in our real world.

I would not trade an actual roster player who can play center well - which we desperately need - for a pick. The Caps chose Ryan Leonard, who is still a sophomore at BC. We can’t afford the gap for a developing pick. Providence is full of them. Maybe if the timing were different.

I don't disagree but I was responding primarily to his put down of Mass players.

That's true 100% but what will you get for a Dman playing as poorly as Mac? I have zero qualms about trading Mac but not for pennies on the dollar like the Thornton/Seguin deals!
Both Gm's would need to get creative as PO bound teams likely don't have much cap space . But in Bruins history many of the bigger more creative deals have yielded the best results. Now do we entirely trust DS to make that type of deal 🤷‍♂️. But I know just trading minor pieces like so many want to do will not move the needle for this club and in essence just kick the can down the road a bit further.

My gut feeling is the Bruins are a crossroads where a major shakeup is needed.
