I'm not bragging about anything. I know you want to try and paint me as some pompom waiving Swayman fanboy in order to discredit anything I say, but I'm not. Is Swayman playing to my expectations? No, I expect him to play like Vezina caliber goalie and he hasn't. I guarantee you he's not playing to his expectations either. Is this team floundering because Swayman isn't playing like he did in last years playoffs? No. You also point the the 4 to 75 all you want but it's means nothing without context. What I mean by that is of the current top 32 goalies in GSAE, roughly 20% have played less than 10 games. Freddy Anderson is ranked #15 and he's only played 4 games. Sure it helps your point to leave that kind of noise in to drive numbers in your favor, but it's being disingenuous.

Am I disappointed with Swaymans numbers this year? Yup and I'm sure he is too. Am I worried, no. A disappointing Swayman still gives you a chance to win. He'll get himself on the right track again. His numbers this season are a massive outlier compared to previous 150+ games in his career.

With that, I'm out on this conversation because its going to be an endless loop, and its already taken more of my time than it should have. Enjoy the rest of your night
Aim top left corner and you score on Swayman.

How on earth do you think that was a homerun? We took back what was consider a terrible goalie with term. Got a very late 1st and a 4th liner (who I'll admit has been better than expected). The first should essentially be to take Korpi so it's Kastelic for Ullmark which is terrible value.
Problem was Ullmark wouldn’t agree to an extension until the season started ,which limited what the Bruins would get in return,Korpisalo hasn’t been terrible, but no way they should have brought him in,unless they had zero faith in any of their prospects,or maybe they just desperately wanted a 1 st round pick.

The problem is too many large contracts for underperforming players. When they gave 9.5mil they were expecting Mac to continue to grow. He is stagnant and nowhere near the value.

Its not just him though. Every top player is underperforming their current value. Makes it very hard to get anything good in return if they continue to slide.

#73 has regressed without a doubt, not stagnated. Right now he is closer to being
the #30 D man in the NHL as 5th. Don't see this guy getting back to what he was.

Marshand is retiring a Bruin and is our only consistent forward and Chuckie has the ability to be something but Carlo has been brutal since his first concussion, so I wouldn't be upset if he were dealt! So Marshy, Mac, Kastelic, and the 2 goalies are keepers for me, the rest, don't care, fire them into the sun if you want. So sick of the falling down, dropping sticks, soft play , brutal D, blind back passes, and weak clearing shots! Did I miss anything because there are a million holes in this roster and we have nothing worth trading except our first pick.

Honestly maybe we just need Sophia to return
& back to wearing yellow socks 🙂

Sacco put the team behind the 8 ball with those lines...

Marchand-Lindholm-Pasta outshot 5-11 in 7:24
Geekie - Coyle - Zacha outshot 5-6 in 6:12

Put the lines back together...

Geekie - Zacha - Pasta 7 shots for, 4 against in 5:40
March-Lindholm-Coyle 4 for, 2 against in 3:49

#63 was absolutely brutal tonight. Worse since beginning of season. He looked like he was hurting again.

It used to be the butterfly goalies would drop down when the shot was released, seems like they are on their knees now as soon as the play is in their end.
It's weird but it's the evolution of the position. Just like the outside pad used to be flush against the post, now the knee is down and inside the post and the inside leg is up. Supposedly this seals shortside better, unless someone roofs it shortside near the goalie's head.

Sorry lifelong goalie, goalie nerd.

If Mac is truly worth his 9M contract then many Playoff bound teams would want to add him. These are the types of trades the team has to make not just adding depth pieces .
That's true 100% but what will you get for a Dman playing as poorly as Mac? I have zero qualms about trading Mac but not for pennies on the dollar like the Thornton/Seguin deals!

Linus was part of that too, but yes Swayman did continue to play well when Ullmark went down for that short period towards the end of the season. If Ullmark didn’t tweak something going into the 23 playoffs and didnt get hurt last year, which gave Swayman the nod / edge in the playoffs - I think 35 might still be wearing the spoked B. He was the better goalie and all around more sound but Sway had the youth on him. At the same time it was easier on both of them playing in front of good teams (especially the miracle regular season year) and alternating every game so they were fresh and pushing each other. I feel like its the equivalent of playing a round of golf but your set up with a great tee shot every hole and only have to worry about your approach and putting - not the same grind. They did help last years team over achieve. Monty even said it at one point - how the record wouldn’t be as good if it wasn’t for great goalie performance. Swayman was ready to give himself an award after getting by the Leafs, but we barely beat them. Yes, he was stellar at times in that series but did have a couple mediocre games as well, just like he did in the Panthers series but he just does not look the same this year. Doesn’t seem to have the same fire and the same life in net. Feels like a used car salesman that got his money and doesn’t care about the sale anymore. Hope he turns it around and gets hot at the right time.

Swayman had ZERO MEDIOCRE GAMES against Toronto. Gave up 1 goal in 3 games including G7 in OT and never gave up more than 2. It was Ullmark G2 who gave up
3 goals. Yeah Swayman dipped against Florida, but was responsible for both wins giving up 1 goal in each win and 2 in G6 elimination loss.

Any team who gets in the playoff round is a serious threat. I had the cats out after we beat alex lyon in the first 2 games. Then bob shows up and they knockout historic point regular season and they go to finals. Playoffs are a lottery my friend where twists turns goalposts injuries and a Michael ryder goalie glove hand save can take to you the that shiny silver mug.
You may be missing a few more pieces from that incredible 2011 run. Swayman is not Tim Thomas. Zacha is not David Krejci. Lindholm is not Patrice Bergeron. Chara. Mcquaid. Seidenberg, Ference, Horton, Lucic (pre abuse allegations), Seguin, Campbell, Thornton, Paille, etc. All the moving parts that came together at just the right time.

That 2011 team would crush this team in a 7 game series and not think twice about it. It's over Don. This season is a wash, even if they somehow squeak into the playoffs.

Playoffs?

Oh you might be in for a rude awakening;

If this franchise is smart they sell for the deadline not buy and then we add some assets/picks and try to get it right next year (also hopefully adding some of Providence) . There is no way this team wins in the playoffs and likely doesn't even get in.
Our goal differential is atrocious — and in terms of predictable stats, goal differential is about as good as it comes for predicting who makes playoffs and has success.

Only reason we are in hunt right now is that the East sucks.

Just two teams across League are clinging on to a playoff spot with a negative goal differential. Vancouver with a -5 hanging on to last WC spot. Boston with a brutal -19 inexplicably in 3rd in East. Games in hand and the East being comprised of shitty teams explains everything.

As you say — this is a selling season if I’ve ever seen one.

I always get a kick out of watching the old replays of games back 60’70’s with the smaller goalies and equipment, man there was a lot of net to shoot at.Lol

Would you have traded #18 for Caps #1 pick in '23 draft?
I would not trade an actual roster player who can play center well - which we desperately need - for a pick. The Caps chose Ryan Leonard, who is still a sophomore at BC. We can’t afford the gap for a developing pick. Providence is full of them. Maybe if the timing were different.
