GDT: Game 41: Red Wings vs hawks 7:00 pm et 1/10/25

Tarasenko has been really bad. Idk what to do about that situation
He gets moved if he asks SY to do so, but I don't think SY will move him otherwise...his bigger value to the team may well be next year if Buch comes over...but even as the 3rd RW, he has some value for yutes (JB this year and Danielson maybe Buch next year?) it will hard for Tank to move up the line up with Ray and Kane on RW as well. (He is not comfortable on the Left side at all)

So overpaid for where he plays, but really not a long term issue, the wings have lots cap the next few years (for now)...

Watching now and just saw the Copp goal that went off Maroon. Haha. So awesome. Hate that SOB.

A high tide raises all boats, everybody looks better than earlier in the season. Holl and Gus even.

Wings have played fewer road games than any EC team, just 18. After another relative softie at home vs. SJ they have a tough road trip, four games in sixdays vs. Fla, TB, Dallas and Philly followed by four home games vs. Montreal, TB, LA and the Oilers to close out the month. The mishmash of WC contenders won't become clearer for another 20 games, but we'll soon get a better idea of how sustainable their better play is and whether they can take it on the road vs. good teams.

I watched the highlights. I knew Kane got three assists but wow did it look like he was flying last night.

Talbot letting in that many goals in such few shots is a little worrisome, but we still won. Kane, Cat, Larkin, Johansson, Raymond all had great games

Shithawks -- I approve.

It's much less profane and much more...politically correct and socially acceptable than my usual substitution for Black Hawks.

I will leave the derivation of my usual substitution as an exercise for the reader, as it won't fit into the margins of these threads.
Nice

I still don't like Holl out there. He makes at least one scary play with the puck in our end every game and even when he is ok, he looks like a grenade about to blow.

If they can go .500 on the road and .750 at home the next 8 (6-2 record overall) then I think we have a playoff team if we’re healthy. Hell, even 5-2-1 would be acceptable. The team can’t let off the gas before the big break though.

And they've been .500 road team this season already, so just keep it up and they should be in good shape. It's just January, a bit early. So long as they don't have a sub-.500 record the rest of the month they'll stay in the WC pack. I think we're looking at a pretty frantic playoff race after the TDL with most of the same teams still in it.

Holl has always looked like he's playing with a shovel instead of a stick on a lot of shifts.
