GDT: Game 41: Red Wings vs hawks 7:00 pm et 1/10/25

Raymond is really turning into a dynamic playmaker.
It is remarkable to have 2 wingers, Raymond and Kane, as playmakers. They have carried the offense this hot streak.

The team played sloppy 1st period. It looked like they might lose it, but they scored 2 in 2nd and it seemed as the win was in the box when we scored 4th. Amazing pass by Raymond.
I believe they had only 8 shots after 2.
Mclellan tried to get tarasenko going and put him on the ice for empty netter, but they scored

Unbelievable that the team is 6-1 with the new coach, but not surprising. We are now 1 win from the playoffs spot

The problem is that the teams ahead of us also going for that spot keep winning also.

Honestly hes just turning into a dynamic all around player. Great hands around the net, absolute howitzer of a snap shot, work horse on the back check.

Im not sure I should crown him just yet but I think hes Detroits best forward, even over Larkin now
Every time Raymond has the puck, I feel like we get a legit scoring chance.

[My god, it was practically a DECADE of low event hockey from Blashill and Lalonde, you guys. I’m just realizing now how deprived we’ve been of good hockey. I’d forgotten what it’s like to enjoy your team’s style of play.

I almost couldn’t care less that they’ve won 6 straight - it’s how they’re playing the game now that’s so encouraging and exciting. I can stomach losses if we go down making plays and playing hard.

I agree. If he has control of the puck in the offensive zone I'm starting to get to the point where I pay attention because he generates so many chances. Havent done that since Datsyuk left

What I'm seeing is a lot of these guys, including Larkin, that have needed a goal or even just a point to get themselves some confidence. The Lalonde era this season did a number on the confidence of these players. These are some of the best players in the world, and night after night they were being coached below what they were capable of. That's a lot on the psyche for an elite athlete groomed their whole lives to play at this level

You got AlJo looking really, really good next to Ed. Kasper, who's been super snake bitten, looked pretty good on that top line tonight. Great to see him get that ENG for some confidence. You can see he's been gripping the stick extra tight lately

Copp is really playing some great hockey on that torrid 2nd line. Holy smokes Kane is a beast right now. I regret what I said 2 weeks ago after Toronto lmao. Veleno is looking more confident. Berggren the same

Even Chiarot has been holding his own next to Mo. Give credit where credit is due. He battles hard out there and will stand up for his teammates

It's just some damn fun hockey to watch for once. It's been far too long with these other coaches. The guys must be loving it in the room too. They sure look like it out on the ice. Especially Mo. His body language has been really off this season up until lately with Todd around. He's our difference maker holding the fort down. Can't wait until Ed takes more and more steps forward

And Kane too. I believe he plays the best hockey since he joined the team. And I finally see his connection with DeBrincat.
No, Detroit is
No. They were 4 points behind us, now they are 2 points ahead of us.

This is completely unbelievable. Under Lalonde this team was usually outshot 2 to 1. Tonight after 2 periods we outshot the Hawks 3 to 1.
I think it should have been 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 after 2. I think we had 5 A chances in period 2. Raymond and Kane are red hot, Larkin on the other hand is not on the top of his game, he completely messed up that 3 on 1 and missed an easy EN.

It’s one of the things I love about our broadcast team. They aren’t insufferable homers like every other set of announcers and recognize elite talent when it’s there. I love it personally. Bedard is a franchise player and he’s rightly focusing on him.
Not wanting an endless slobber-fest does not imply that I want our guys to be homers. Rightfully focus on the kid when he does something good, dont gush over him non-stop like some NHL network slappy.
