Point taken, but then how could I ever hear the other side of the story.

Also, I started as a Kings fan in the 80's, so I do have a bit of an interest in their team. It seems like these boards have the most insight, and many of you do know what you are talking about.

Why did you switch?

I don't think Duck fans understand that when Kings fans are calling somebody lucky does not mean they are not good.
Robitaille-web.jpg

I think that as far as the Ducks go we need to know that the Ducks are not much better than the Kings because we want the Kings to win.
As some one said (no one really knows who)
"I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it."

What this really says, to me, is that some Ducks fans still feel a need to prove that they are worthy or Kings fans respect. If you go to the Kings official fan board there is little talk of the Ducks, except near games between the two. If you go to the Ducks official board it is one of the biggest topics. I am not saying don't think about each other, just don't obsess

You would think so, but there were quite a few proclaiming that the Ducks really weren't a good team at all, and it's not too hard to see why. They finished low last year, aren't a high profile team, and then went in this year and put up a high PDO and a low Fenwick, which right away would alert some people. Those who knew the team and watched them play knew they were simply more fortunate than some others, but others flat out proclaimed they were the next team to get hot and bottom right out.

Stuff like this is bound to happen with advanced stats making it's foray into hockey, though. Too many people(well, one is too many, really) who want to use them to appear superior to others and be condescending, rather than using them to further learn the game and gain an understanding of certain aspects. It'll phase out eventually.

Don't forget "game starts at 11 EST" :sarcasm:

This just shows my point. Ducks fans are not educated about Boudreau teams. In fact, they haven't watched that one program that basically showed why he is a crappy coach. Anyone who has played a sport will understand this - a dude who yells and screams and curses like Boudreau will inevitably get tuned out over the long run as a silly blowhard. And that's exactly what the Caps did, at first they responded well but then he lost credibility. SAme thing happening with the Ducks. IMO that team is just delaying a longer rebuild.

They don't need to rebuild. Check their prospect pool, it is stacked. They will easily be able to work in really good prospects as their older players leave.

The Ducks are in the same position we are in. Both teams can win now and for a long time. Just like us, they have players and longer term prospects all over their system. The main thing they lack is a #2C, which we DO have, fortunately.

We're even more fortunate we have a 3 #1C.

#1 D is a bigger need imo.

No excuses, it was an even game and the kings took advantage of their opportunities. We had our chances and hit posts, but I thought it was a great game to watch. Quick played great. Really hope we get a playoff series.

We need to score more than one goal in a game or we should not expect to win. Refs missed some calls, but oh well. Of course the shot the Perry saved for you with his butt would have changed the game.

love your no excuses......1) first posts2)refs missed calls3)perry makes save etc....you people are too much

Why did you switch?[/QUO

Living closer to the Pond and getting season tickets. Same reason I liked the Angels over the Dodgers.

Dude, dude, dude...I live in ****ing Brea, about 20 minutes from the Pond, but nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, would ever make me switch from the team I have loved since I was in single digits.

Gotta...be...loyal...to...the...core!!!

P.S. We go up 2 to 1 this year on you guys. Bank on it. Now.

When you're a pure diehard, it's tough to imagine, but it happens. I'm pretty close to Winnipeg, and can hardly fathom the idea of switching from Ducks to Jets, but most of Manitoba and even some of Saskatchewan made the switch like nothing. Other diehards I know stayed true, but even a lot of them like the Jets to varying degrees.

I don't understand switching teams when the one you first rooted for isn't that far away. The Winnipeg situation is a bit different because now those fans can actually attend a game in person pretty easily. Personally, I would never switch. Glad to hear you stuck with your original team. :)

I only took offense because of the comment that Ducks fans were uninformed and bandwaggons. This just is not true, as was my comment about Kings fans starting to like them when Wayne was traded for.

Every team board in here has fans that are uninformed and "homers" where their team can do no wrong. We all admit there are Ducks fans that are like that, but if you actually read our site, I rarely see many who think this team is the top team in the division. We have the 2nd most points but have many issues. We have more people complaining about the GM, the line up and our coach than your site from what I have seen. Yes, as with every site, we love when we win and hate when we lose, and often times look for an excuse. That is natural and I have read it here.

Many Ducks fans, including myself just do not think the advanced stats are a catch all for success. All it shows is what "should" happen in the games based on shots, etc. It has nothing to do with our record, I would have the same opinion if we were in last. There are too many variables that go into a hockey game to assume the team with the best stats should win the cup.

I for one thought the Kings were the best team going into the playoffs last year and bet on them to win the cup. They were not lucky, they just played great (similar to the Ducks run). This year I think they are probably the best team in the West, and although I would love to see a playoff series wtih them, I hope we dont have to play them until the Conference finals. But to say the Ducks are lucky to have the record we have, well that is just wrong.

Nice contradiction there.

Seriously, does it matter why someone has the fan allegiance they have, other than to try to manufacture some internal reason why your choice is better than theirs?

We're Kings fans -- they're Ducks fans. So be it, and there's no need to try to build up our own machismo on the backs of tearing down other people's reasons for cheering for the other set of clothes (as Jerry Seinfeld put it once).

Now the team -- that's a different matter :)

Well.. we are diffrent.. yes i came here for Kopitar... I have now GCL for second year.. because of time diffrence i can follow only one team really close... but if Kopi will ever change team (i hope and belive that he wont) i can imagine that i will start following other team... but i wont hate you :D thats for sure...

I have similar "problem" with our local basketball team... i usually followed 2 or 3 leagues, that they played in, going to home games etc... but since i moved to diffrent city, where are located our "rivals"... i went to few "rivals" game, when they played against other EU teams..
