I honestly think this is a must win or the season is done. My reasoning, New York and Boston in back to backs, New York might be the best team in the league and Boston is on a hot streak now-in their building too. So if we lose tonight, we could be looking at 5 straight and being finished. Hoping for a big confidence building win tonight to right the ship and set up a big clash with the Rangers.

Good thing is we still have a lot of games in hand, but we need to win all those games and then we'll be in ok shape. We need to start another 10-1-1 streak though, the teams in front of us are due to have a slide for a week or so.

That perspective is pessimistic. :sarcasm: But in my opinion right on the nose. The time is now. If another fantastic finish awaits it better start tonight. Lose the next three and watch the draft thread explode.

I've always tried to be optimistic, but man, the wild card is getting farther and farther out of sight. 13 pts behind Boston with 4 games in hand, if we win all 4 of those and the head to head with Boston, we are 3 back and right in it. But we have to go back on a streak first, starts tonight!

Let me put it this way, I won't be planning my Spring vacation around the play-offs this year.

I'll be there tonight, so GO JACKETS! If nothing else, let's send the Habs fans home unhappy.

Tossing hats for Joey tonight.

CBJ 4-1

Foligno with the EN

Johansen goes beast mode from here til season end. 40G/50A puts the team on his back.

Pretty crucial. Extend the losing streak to 3 or win something and give us some hope. A considerable losing streak between now and the deadline will put this season 6 feet under.

From here on out the Jackets will need to avoid 3+ game losing streaks. Can't afford to do any worse tha 2-1 this week, imo. Would prefer 3-0 obviously, but I would definitely take 2-1 or 2-0-1.

Seeing as the NYR play in Boston Thursday, then play us the following day in our building, that should be a should win game.

So since Foligno has been named as a team captain in the allstar game, does he get the C in columbus soon? Heck, is he even an alternate now that Letestu and Dubi are back?

Why the heck is Boll an alternate captain? Or even starting? Haha just perplexing as heck...

Reading through the Montreal GDT reveals that their fans are up in arms about the lines. Accusing Therrien of line-o-matic mix 'n matching. Could be catching them at the right time.

thats all i can figure, and he honestly didn't look near 100% last game.

He pulled a respectable 14 minutes last game.

I don't remember Letestu ever being fast, but he has looked awfully slow the last couple games. Whether he gets some quickness back or not he'll probably get more minutes soon, he'll still be better than anyone else in the bottom six, and a major Powerplay asset (if we use him).

C'mon Jackets Time!

Feels like a must-win kind of game, but I guess most of them have felt that way to me this year, especially since Thanksgiving.

I'm more of Western Conference guy when the Jackets aren't on, so I haven't seen much of the Habs this season. If they're the team I remember from last year they have good speed and team chemistry, and more than capable of putting three or four on the board quickly if we clown around with getting the puck out of the zone.

I'm hoping for the best, but I have a bottle of Jack at the ready should the hockey beer not be enough to get through the game. :handclap:

I'm watching the game on Sportsnet, and Elliotte Friedman is on the panel pre-game with Doug Maclean, Panger, etc.. He said last year when you played the Jackets, no matter the score, you had ice-bags on after the game. He thought the Jackets would get even better this year and it hasn't happened. "They've had a couple real stinkers in a row. They need to find a way to get back to that [icebags hockey]"... Friedman looks easily like the smartest guy in hockey.

Then there's Doug Maclean, who tells us he would have drafted Johansen.:laugh:

I think the anthem singer is pretty good. First time I see him, he's surprisingly young. His french was A1 by the way for those who care.
