Nugent Hopkins centre slot kill shot. His shot is so much better when he has a straight look and can pick any of the five holes. But blocker side his old trusty.
Nuge is on the predictable heater. Should last for awhile now. He's feeling the scoring touch lately.
Good thing this game is against the Pens. They're usually good for a converted TD against.

A 2 on 1 and Janmark smashes a slapshot from deep that was off the Janmark. Uhh....
Found Gene Principe's burner account.

Even if you want to skewer Skinner - was he in any way at all worse than the trash in front of him the whole first?

Team embarrassments are a thing, and that’s exactly what that was. To single out Skinner is ridiculous.
We've all watched teams get absolutely dominated by the Oilers because they don't have it for the period and the goalie keeps them in it.

Skinner is a good backup put into a position he shouldn't be in. He's inconsistent, like the majority of backup goaltenders. The fact that we even argue about it is on management thinking they don't have a goaltending problem.

They either need an upgrade on Skinner, or an upgrade on Pickard to push Skinner. Either way, they need a change in net.

I love his shot when he’s not sniping posts like no one’s business. He can get into that mode.

It’s so obvious every player and coach will say we shat the bed in the 1st. You know, cause we did. Why deny that reality?

Skinner will also say he should be better. And I’d agree with him.

A 4 goal against 1st period has a lot of blame to go around.
Is anybody at all denying the Oilers were shit in the first period? I don't see those posts. Its just that it would be nice to even be able to have a weak period now and then and not get buried in GA. That was the general sentiment expressed.

Oh so it should be just expected that a goalie should stand on his head when the team is giving a D- - - effort in front.

Got it.

Best thing is that’s exactly what’s happened lately. But it’s Skinner so he doesn’t get credit for that when it works.

I love this new Drive supporting Nuge era on HF lol.
I was always a fan. People missed that aspect. My take on Nuge was always due to how much he WASN'T leaving on the ice. Guy should be a PPG player all the time and good enough to be a star player. he settles short on himself. I was right too as the 104 pt season reflected what he can be.

That same shot you're loving I was loving since Junior. He sizes it up like a snooker shot.

Helps the PP when Nuge shows shot. And even better when he works into centre lane looks versus off the side flanks. Good to see him start to produce.

Its implied if you say the entire period was on Stu’s shoulders.

You sure you didn’t dislike his dusting off of the shot? That’s very un-Drai like?

But I’ll take your word for it.

Whatever man, if you can't accept that sometimes teams just need a save, that's on you.

The oilers shouldn't be relying on a backup goaltender if they want to be a Stanley Cup contender, it's that simple.

Whatever man, good thing it’s ridiculous to suggest Skinner is a backup goalie.

He's a different scorer. Nuge is good shooting through a screen and picking a spot taking his time. Different way to carve a pumpkin. The reason Nuge scored there is double pumping. He's also good at fake pass, shoot. Crafty.

Nuge is one of the brighter players around. I've said often times he'd probably make a good coach if he ever wants it.
