Frederic's pointless streaks this season:
Five
Six
Eight
Presently...Eleven games

Some questions:
Why is he still on the third line?
I thought he was the resident tough guy?
Why do I get notices on my phone that the Bruins are going to make a big trade regarding Frederic?
A trade involving Frederic... that's considered a "BIG" trade?
Do I need a new phone?

Thats a game where Coyle and Zacha should have dominated and they were awful.
TFred, next to Pasta's great pass, was the best player on the Bruins.

I prefer Oesterle in there.

Oliver W looks cooked. I'd send him down and let him try and find his game. If claimed so be it.

Lou hits the point. Coyle and Tfred I agree, what can you get? I'd keep Geekie and Brazzos, I don't know what to do with him. Merk and Matty P can easily fill those holes.

Show everyone clips of TFred's puck possession game last night. Market that!
I honestly don’t know what he did to deserve sitting these last few games. He had been a pleasant surprise and his ability to break the puck out was noticeable, given that much of this D corps continues to struggle with that aspect of the game

The Quiet Corner
The Bruins won't blow it up until the seats are empty. As long as they fill the seats reasonably well & get at least 1 round of playoff money then Jacobs is satisfied. It's been his MO for 50 years.

This team needs another 2006 level housecleaning (except for Bob Essensa, who deserves a lifetime contract).

I didn't like seeing guys joking around on the bench in the third period. Or Swayman having a laugh with the ref during a stoppage with 2 minutes left.

Looks like they have gotten used to losing.

Don't think 100-year-old Harry could scare them anymore, but maybe Cam could take a shot at a locker room visit.
I saw that as well.

I was particularly bummed to see Swayman doing that. I know he has to be loose, and goalies are an odd bunch, but he is nothing like a goalie who is even close to good enough to hold out trying to set the League payroll. He’s often been very poor and of late has been at most an average goalie. Like the team … sometimes good sometimes horrid.

Even if he has to be loose, the chuckles are a bad look.

Sell

Check the markets for Coyle, Freddy, Geekie and Brazeau and get futures and younger NHL'ers you can maybe fit into the peripheral core. Call up Poitras and Lysell and get them experience. Keep the D and G as is.
If they do anything other than this I will be very very disappointed.

The lack of future prospects on this team is going to make this season seem like Nirvana as players age more and we have neither the money or prospects to replace/augment.

If Sweeney does anything other than what you suggest I may need to take a break from the team for a while.

Too many 3d and 4th line players.

D is not so good

goaltending not as good as it should be
Yep - DS cornered the market in 3rd and 4th line players.

Aside from grinding out goals, you can't teach guys to score, but the D CAN be better, and goaltending too.

Better D starts with 73 leading by example and pouring his heart into every shift, kinda like Bourque would do....but alas.

Stupid to trade one of the best.
I respectfully disagree. He is one of their best, but this team should be leveraging assets to rebuild. The prospect pool isn't very inspiring.

They won't be trading Pasta...and they should not.

Is anybody on this board surprised were up against the cap with this load of crap? Our goaltending and Kastelic are the only bright spot for me. I can see the Leafs scoring a touchdown on Saturday, even with Mathews sitting in the press box. We will get our usual one goal!

You think goaltending has been a bright spot?

Pasta , McAvoy and Sway are not going anywhere- the combination of foundational players, no trade contracts and fan appeal ( ticket sales) makes them long-term Bs.

Which means any change needs to come from dealing draft picks, prospects and tradable assets like Frederick, Geekie, Coyle and Carlo. The net is a trade with Vancouver for either center is a pipe-dream since others teams ( eg Carolina or the Rangers) can put together much more attentive packages.

My thought- don't trade a Lysell or a Poitras or a high draft- instead change the team feel/chemistry with a trade of current players. Given the assets available this means a trade not to contend for the Cup but a trade to secure a playoff position and the all-important playoff revenue.

Lift the puck up.

That is McAvoy not doing his job. Had about 2\3 of the upper part of the net and shot it
in the 1\3 Quick could get back to.

The first goal said it all. Shows you how Sweeney spent 17.75 million on a #3 defenseman and an unproven goalie.

That game is way way more on the 18 skaters than Swayman, way more.
I put it 90% skaters.

Wow, this is what the speed and skill lovers wanted huh? This is what no contact, non physical hockey looks like, a cure for insomnia unless you have McDavid or a star of that level to watch.

Gotta love analytics that will tell me this snoozefest was entertaining.
Dude what? This is the opposite of any speed and skill. They have a big, slow guys and struggle to move the puck. This is exactly the kind of roster you advocated for, except they don't play the tough game well either.

The kicker is, because so much of the physical part of the game has been phased out, when a team is not putting up arcade style offense, the product is incredibly boring.

It’s too bad because I want to love watching the sport I love, but right now college football is a far superior product.

This team wears the Bruins’ uniforms, but they do not at all remind me of the Boston Bruins.

You are watching the NCAA PO and Bowl games while watching RS NHL games.

IMO the US-Canada and Czech-Canada games were just as intense as NCAA games.
Expecting SF and Final to be also.

Except the Bruins didn't add speed and skill this year. They added Zadorov and Kastelic. Two players that play the game like you want it played.

To be fair, it's not McAvoy's job to be a goal scorer. Found himself in a great position to score, but none the less an unfamiliar position.
