I have a lot of issues with Lavi, but keeping Brod in the lineup after he scored a goal (in a way that very few players on our team can duplicate) and played really well with hustle and effort is not one of them 🤷‍♂️
I’m sold on Brodzinski. He’s not a problem. Vesey can sit. (Though he’s not really a problem either).
Here’s what I’d like to see:
10-16-34
13-72-65
50-93-91
84-39-22/26

If the Knicks got Wembanyama and he was a 13 and 10 guy in year 5, this city wouldn't survive.

Put Lafreniere on Toronto or Vancouver and give him the same career so far, and it's the same result -- the city would be burned down.

This is not a hard place to be a hockey player. It's downright easy compared to Canada. You're gaslighting yourself into thinking the Rangers are important.

If I watched EPSN, listened to the radio, or read the news 24/7, and only ate when the Rangers were a topic of discussion not from somebody affiliated with the Rangers or hockey, I would starve to death before the month was over.

The fact that Ovie is so close to breaking Gretzky goal record and nobody is reporting on it or making a big deal, it’s pathetic. NHL is sadly an afterthought here

The reality is, hockey is a niche sport.

Don't get me wrong, the Rangers are MASSIVE in the hockey world, but it isn't a big world.

Ice hockey isn't a top 25 sport globally.

Literally the only country on the face of the Earth, with a population in the 8-digits, where hockey has had mainstream penetration is Canada.

55 people work in my office. The number of them who would have heard of Alex Ovechkin is maybe 3 or 4. The number of people who would have heard of LeBron James is 55.

Okay, skipped the last couple because I got too pissed off and went off the deep end with some of my comments last time. I’m back. Glad we beat Chicago, but I take absolutely nothing away from that. I know Kaliyev isn’t playing, but I always had my eye on him as a guy who could pull a Tolvanen if some coach gave him the trust and opportunity. Not that Lavi inspires much confidence, but let the kid play top six and PP for his first half dozen games. We have literally NOTHING to lose and everything to gain if he blossoms a bit. I’m so sour on this team but I’m gonna try to keep a more level head than last time I tuned in. My holidays were a bit tough, missing Henrik, so I let the Rangers irritate me more than they should have. I’m back aboard the tank.

I like that it’s so niche.

Great take here. I took nothing from the Chicago game either. It was a terrible team beating up the worst team in the league. I will not get hyped for the Rangers unless they can string two consecutive wins together, as well as be able to defend against the playoff contenders. If not, it legit needs to be a full tank and not a half-assed tank. Like, you know, the Giants who passed up getting the #1 pick because they wanted to win one meaningless game.

you don't think ice hockey is top 25 globally? I think it probably is

edit: I think it's probably somewhere in the top 10, honestly

Flip side of a slightly melancholy holidays without Henrik - it’s been the longest I haven’t seen him since he was born, can’t wait for him to be back and actually do Christmas with him (power wheels Jeep!) - is that pending step-son is 7.5 years old and our town did a little outdoor ice rink for the holidays and he became obsessed. Ended up taking him skating 13 times for probably a total of like 20+ hours of ice time, ended up getting him real skates for Christmas (gave him them early so he could use them) and by the time Christmas rolled around, his bio dad and step mom bought him a Benn jersey, me and his mom got him a Heiskanen jersey, he begged for NHL 25 for Christmas and he’s been bugging me all day about watching tonight’s game because he knows I’ll always be Rangers first. But it’s quite fun to have this insanely enthusiastic little dude dying to watch games with me. He’s begging for full gear and to join a youth league now.

Should probably just consider it "hockey" - it's played all over the world in different climates
I don't know, I feel like that's like saying rugby and football are the same thing.

Field hockey and ice hockey have dramatically different rules.

Field hockey is absolutely huge.
