Well, it was a good run. It’s understandable that the Boys may not bring 100% against a Team like Detroit, who probably go all out.

Not saying it’s right, but understandable. I’d rather see them come out of these games with no injuries and compete hard in spurts than the opposite.

A silver lining, I believe, is that it gives some players a flick in the nose to get them going a bit harder next game.

I don’t see anything concerning about this, just an inhale during a compressed season for the players and perhaps a little reset for Petr with his comeback.

Thank you @MrazeksVengeance for letting me fill in for you with the GDT’s during your studies. Thank you to everyone for the kind words for my style & letting me deviate from your “low effort” norm here.

I hope you’ll be open to me doing more in the future. If so, just let me know when. I haven’t seen a schedule like some Boards have.

I plan on hanging around with you folks in the meantime anyway.

Cheers

Thing is, I'm not even that mad.

I'm just super disappointed in the effort. Svech is becoming a problem, and tonight it culminated in a disastrous OT for him. Our shootout efforts left a lot to be desired. And worst of all, Mrazek has a bad game.

If it was just one game against Detroit, that would be one thing, but this is the 3rd loss against them this year. Our effort just isn't there against this team. Shows we are overlooking them as an opponent and not taking them seriously. I don't like that at all.

Svech is frustrating me too. You're not alone. It's hard sometimes, but you have to zoom out. He's not having his best season, but he's young and this too is a building block. The Canes are leading the league in pt percentage. That's pretty damn good all things considered.

"Of all the things that Detroit does what makes them difficult for you to play, Rod"

"They work hard, that's about it"

On the surface that seems like a mundane quote, but from RBA that's a pretty critical thing to say about the team, because it's basically saying they are tough because they work hard and we don't when we play them.

Svechnikov is playing like dogshit right now. He really needs to start being held accountable for this kind of shit play. It's a combination of not having his head in the game and also trying too hard.

Trying to play the hero pretty much cost us any hope of a decent scoring opportunity in OT. I'm not sure what to do, you can't bench him, but this shit cannot persist.
He needs to skin up a slump buster

It's not even a a curse thing, I can't read them. Mike and Tripp can't even read them. It's awful.

I want to be able to identify who is dogging it out there.
That's my main problem. They're not even good jerseys. I have no idea who is on the ice half the time. There is no contrast between the numbers and jersey fabric. It's just a dark grey blob.

Agreed. Svech knows he’s capable of much better. He just needs to choose his moments and not force it when it’s not there. That’s easier said than done but I think he’ll figure it out.

I have been putting on quite a few pounds. I’d blame Covid lockdowns, but that would be me making excuses...

My wife and I recently (past month) found a break through app in that regard. It's sort of high maintenance but its working for us so far. Check out Lose It! It's calorie counting but it definitely works. I've never counted calories, but the app makes it addictive.

Detroit can really skate. If the Canes aren't prepared to or unable to outskate the Wings, they'll win the majority of matchups on talent, but it will be close. It's like the issues this team has continued to have with the Rangers in the regular season, despite their rebuilding process.

Maybe it's your fault. He's your avatar, after all. The pressure of keeping up with your insanely unrealistic expectations might be wearing on him.

I wonder if the ice was garbage tonight.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about ice quality, other than the puck bounces if it's too cold and doesn't move smoothly if it's too warm. However, I've increasingly made the same observation in the past...year or two, maybe three: I wonder to myself if the ice sucks. Also, when I see a lot of players lose their footing, it becomes suspect. But again, I know very little about ice quality.

I read somewhere that it's NEE-CHEE, because in Czech it means something that's somewhat indicative of young Marty in relation to older Martinook. Maybe one @MrazeksVengeance remembers?
IT'S WRITTEN "NEČI" AND YES IT'S A DIMINUTIVE NICKNAME. THE PRONUNCIATION IS... "NEH-CHI".

MRÁZEK CALLED HIM THAT WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT HIM IN THE LASTEST CZECH INTERVIEW. CZECHS OUT. PUN NOT INTENDED, BUT FULLY ACKNOWLEDGED.

ONE THING TO ADD - THE PRONUNCIATION OF NEČAS YOU ARE USED TO "NEY-CHAS" IS WRONG. IT'S "NEH-CHAS" (SILENT H).
