It’s almost like going into the playoffs with a starter that’s been basically unplayable all season was a bad idea.

We have options though. Skinner might have never made it out of the AHL if he were in an org that had decent goalies ahead of him. It’s not like he’s genetically superior to Delia or Rodrigue. They’re all AHL goalies.

Thing is we know Skinner is unplayable. We don’t know for sure how Delia or Rodrigue would look.

The whole situation is inexcusable but we don’t have to choose Skinner. I doubt Vegas has scouted these guys too

Brian Burke is famous for saying you'll never win in the playoffs if you play a Goaltender more than 50 games in the regular season. Helle has played over 65 games ever year since COVID.

If you look back at the COVID years, he was lights out amazing in the playoffs when he started only 35 or so in the regular season.

That would make more sense if as the playoffs went along his numbers continued to get worse. But he seems fine at the end the regular season just fine, and then from day 1 of the playoffs just shits the bed. I think we could see him have a path of Dubnyk without the success. Go to a team or two and bounce back a bit to be a serviceable backup. Plays like a Walmart Koskinen, maybe he bounces back to being a Koskinen type

No, we aren't putting minor league goalies in for game 4 of the Pacific final. Skinner has at least been here before. Even if you believed one of the minor league goalies would be better, do you really believe any NHL coach would not go with Skinner? We might as well accept it

It's insane not to. We waited since June to be back here. I'm behind the team 100%, and that includes every player and personnel on it. There will be lots of time to gripe about things in the offseason
