With nothing else seeming to work, I’m going to try something different, channel a bit of my alma mater and make this GDT pirate-themed. And here to help me is the pauper of the surf, the jester of Tortuga: Captain Jack Sparrow.
Now, obviously, this isn’t the position we were hoping to find ourselves in. We won 6 straight, we were feeling fine, and even looked pretty good in the first game of this series. Then we promptly got our teeth kicked in. Last game was better, much better in fact, but in the end, we find ourselves in the dreaded 3-0 hole.
So now we take it one game at a time. Win the next one, worry about the rest later. It’s too late to make any real adjustments to the team, so we’ve got to stick with the horses we’ve got, and hope we get better performances from everyone involved. Speaking of which - Justin Williams
Stop it. Just stop it. Remove whatever barnacle crawled up your porthole and go back to playing the much more calming, steady and most importantly disciplined style of play that you showed in the first two rounds.
Next, the power play....
...Yeah, that should about sum that up.
So it looks bleak. But it’s not over until the last cannon fires and the last mast falls. It’s a daunting task, but not an impossible one. It’s been done before, which means it can be done again. Why not us? One quick hex on Tuukka Rask and we’re back in this.
But if this is the end of the line, the final game before we fall into the depths of Davy Jones’ locker, just remember that this season is far from a failure. I’m sure this team far surpassed the expectations that most of us had for them, and getting this far will only make them hungrier for more next year (and hopefully for many years to come). This year was a major step in the right direction, and something we can certainly build on.
So for those of you going to this game: tailgate the hell out of it. Cheer, yell, scream, do whatever you need to give the Canes the extra oomph they need to come away with a win tonight. And when it’s all said and done, grab your rum and
