I completely agree.

I'll never understand why anyone thinks that getting down on their team and booing them is going to have any kind of positive effect.

Yes, I know, these are millionaires, not kids, but they are people, and I happen to think picking someone up instead of kicking them while they're down is the more appropriate method, whatever their W-2 says.

It tells the players and coaching staff they are not satisfied with the performace... in a direct way. It's a very useful tool, just as cheering for a team is as well...

People who boo are idiots. Period. Sometimes it doesn't go the way you want. I support the team regardless of the outcome.

This team has overachieved, and put itself in a position that frankly, it isn't quite ready for. It would be nice to see them keep raising their level, but I believe they've had it dialed up to 11 for about six weeks now and sooner or later we all knew that they'd play a game or two at 5. The fact that they are in a race is accomplishment enough, and I think it's wholly unrealistic to 'expect' more at this point. Anything that happens is a bonus. Experience with a playoff race, getting in, just missing and being hungry (and improving draft position)...all acceptable outcomes to me.

Tonight was a dud, no other way to say it, but I will be damned if I boo these guys, or be told that I should have because the game didn't go the way I wanted it to. I saw an overmatched team, not a listless one.

as a mod you should know better than to make personal attacks at boo'ers everywhere. I find it incredibly offensive that you would have the audacity to personally attack millions and I mean millions of the boo fans around the world. If you smelllllllllll what the doug61 is cooking.

The guy who blew my mind tonite was Wiz. I watched him closely and I have never seen such a mindless idiotic game played in a Jackets uniform (that is saying a lot) as he played tonite. Pass after pass without looking to whom he was passing, blind passes back in front of his own net, being faked out of his jockstrap. It was just unbelievable. How could anyone play such a stupid game! On one pass from behind the net, he swung so hard at the puck that he spun around so that his back was facing the oncoming players. He never even turned around to look at where his pass went, he just started heading toward the bench. Unfortunately his pass was intercepted by a Wild player and the rush was coming back at him. He was 1/3 of the way to the bench before he realized that the Wild had the puck, they were back in our zone and he had just left Bob out to dry. About five minutes later, he did the same thing, swinging so hard that he wound up with his back facing the play and he did not take the time to turn around and see where the puck was before starting to move off the ice. Someone needs to give this man a mental enema and clean out all of the s*** that is accumulating between his ears. His performance tonite was just incredible. Talk about someone playing like they did not give a damn!

You guys know Wisniewski is playing with special skates that limit his mobility because of his broken foot. That isn't something to defend his turnovers or blind passes, but his defensive lapses and trouble getting pucks out of the zone by getting to them is caused by this.

Do you honestly think that you have to boo to show dissatisfaction? That somehow, without boos, it wouldn't be obvious to the players that they need to do better? Really? :shakehead

I call it as it is. Morons, each and every one of them. The ones who boo the loudest are likely the furthest from understanding anything about actually playing a team sport.

So you're booing the mod? :sarcasm::laugh:

Being a mod has nothing to do with my opinions. Being a mod just means I have to make sure things are in the right threads, people don't kill each other, etc.

Believe it or not, I'm also entitled to an opinion. Most of this thread is kind of ridiculous. It's like rats leaving a sinking ship. Then you have a ringleader who thinks somehow fans in attendance didn't do their job unless they boo'd like idiots.

I won't apologize for thinking we're capable of better, particularly given what we've all been through over the years.

I read that in the media, perhaps he should not be playing then. I'm not a NHL professional but many players play at less than 100%; if his situation as a defensman prevents him from playing "needed" NHL defense he should not play.

Stop it SG.... we know your opinion on the subject... fans boo all over the earth in sport... Hell, Philly fans boo'ed Santa Clause... cheering and booing is a personal choice, leave it at that.

When Niktin and Erixon come back healthy, I'd be in favor of scratching Wiz (sounds painful!)

Agree Lee... Although I can't say we lost tonight because those guys were out we missed them...

That said, we also missed guys like Boll and Dorsett who bring emotion and urgency to the game…

If his feet haven't fully healed yet he shouldn't be playing. Go collect insurance instead of ruining the team's playoff chances. Not sure why the doctors would clear him either if he has to wear equipment that inhibits performance.

Robert, Dorsett was on the DL during the entire 12 game streak. He was not the source of urgency during the streak.

And while we are discussing urgency, someone needs to remind Johansen that he can still be sent back down. Talk about another person who did not show up very much tonite.

Agree, all but useless recently... That said, he is so young, is it fair to focus on him tonight or would guys as Prospal, Umberger or Gaborik be better choices...? afterall, they have played in the NHL for what seems to be decades...;)

I think the two are related. Wiz has always been a high risk/high reward passer, but since he's come back his game is way off, not just his skating. Perhaps he can't think the game as well when he's not fully mobile.

I read that in the media, perhaps he should not be playing then. I'm not a NHL professional but many players play at less than 100%; if his situation as a defensman prevents him from playing "needed" NHL defense he should not play.

Agreed. Call up Holden if you have to, Wiz should be shut down.

A personal choice, and a prevalent one. But I do share SG's sentiment on booing, in that I can't imagine why so many people consider it a motivational tactic. If booed, I would sooner expect players to play worse than play better.

HAH. People who boo once the game is over may be idiots, but the booing of fans during the game is actually a motivator. Especially in a game like tonight where the whole team seemed to be in a mental fog. It would have benefited the team to know that at least the 17,000 people giving up their Sunday nights to watch them still had pulses. Being from the friendly Midwest doesn't mean you need to be docile enough to swallow wholehearted mediocrity.

come on. Like these guys haven't shown us how much they want to win? Last year I could understand booing, but you wanna boo these guys for not keeping up a level of play many other fans wish their teams would achieve?

I say good on ya, boys, thanks for the ride, get 'em next year. After an abysmal 2011-2012, a rough start with new players, you got not only fans but smart front office people to believe in you and you almost did it. I'm not booing for losing to a tough, playoff-bound team (or two)
