I don’t like the Kovalenko scratch but he wouldn’t have been the difference.
“Sharks don’t have offence at the moment”
“Goodrow is awful but what are the alternatives”
“Adding an offensive player instead of Goodrow wouldn’t have made the difference”

No one is acting like it would make the Sharks a playoff team, but the above is literally the logic you’re applying. It was essentially a one goal game, and you don’t think having Kovalenko could have helped that or at least increased the chances as opposed to Barclays f***ing Goodrow?

I mean, we can't afford to be down any offensive skill players and we're down two, making a weak offensive team really weak. Last night we had two lucky goals and one skill goal. Tonight we had one skill goal. Both skill goals with Celebrini on the ice.

Second line has been mostly worthless for a long time.

sharks lineup just lacks firepower right now. No scary D. only 6 real top 9 forwards (Granlund, Zetterlund, Celebrini, Toffoli, wennberg, Smith), and this including Smith who is obviously very borderline. All due respect to kunin, but hes a 4th liner on most teams. Kunin, Sturm, Dyl, Grund, goodie, kostin.... all filler guys.

just not enough manpower.

Not at all.

I quite like the Sharks and want to see you do well. I’m speaking as an Avs fan with experience of tanking.

Agreed it's a perfect game for all the reasons you listed. Macklin sounding pissed is the unfortunate downside, but you'd rather that than him being fine with losing.

Kunin is a 4th liner who can play 3rd. (This coming from someone who has been very critical of Kunin during his time at the Sharks).

Kostin can be middle six but he just doesn’t put it together. Grundstrom is find 4th liner. Sturm is barely holding 4th line tbh.

Goodrow should be waived yesterday. He should be playing in Europe.

I'm a bit harsher on Kunin and Kostin than you are, but I think this is basically spot on. We're playing an entire line of guys who just plain don't belong in an NHL lineup and the rest of the team is about a line above their talent (save Celebrini). Of course we're going to lose and keep losing.

We keep losing because we have Quinn 2.0 behind the bench. If he didn’t have Celebrini, this team would be so much worse than last year because the twat keeps benching skilled players but allowing Goodrow, Ferraro, & co. To continue being absolutely detrimental in every facet of the game.

This isn’t a good team, but it’s not the losing streaks we’ve seen in October and December bad (and funny enough it was Goodrow out injured where the losing streaks didn’t happen).

I don't love a lot of things Warsofsky has done this year, but it's lack of talent that's the issue.

Celebrini's kind of a terrible "fun" interview on HNIC After Hours. He doesn't remember anything about the stuff he's being asked questions regarding.

Also Warsofsky just walked through the shot casually.

Also they're spending more time talking about his dad than they are about him.

i mean when you have to slide across for the backdoor shot can you do that?
Yes, it’s part of that downside lateral movement also a basic fundamental of being a butterfly goalie stick should be tracking the puck too. He got across and was in a good butterfly but the tops of his pads were off the ice, had his stick of been there wouldn’t of gotten under him

Good, he should be pissed. Losing sucks. He should never forget what losing feels like and want to avoid ever feeling like that again when the time comes for you to be good.

I see so much of MacKinnon in him, not just the play on the ice but the intensity and passion to win.

When he’s leading you guys to glory a few years from now, he’s going to appreciate how hard it is to win in this league and do everything possible to keep winning. There won’t be any complacency.

This is all part of the growing pain.
